Set on one and one quarter acres in historic downtown Charleston, surrounded by a stuccoed privacy wall, is one of Charleston's most elaborately embellished Federal mansions. The Gaillard Bennett House, circa 1800, is once again complete with its original outbuildings and grand garden. Meticulously restored by master craftsmen, the main house is a two and one half story double house with a gracious porch on the front and two side decorative porches, each with a pagoda roof. Both the kitchen house and the carriage house have been fully restored. The pool and gazebo overlook one of the largest gardens in the city. The main house has approximately 10,000 square feet. The kitchen house and carriage house square footage totals approximately 5,000 square feet. Historic Charleston Foundation holds the Preservation Easement.
