Neighborhood Description
The neighborhood is beautiful! Filled with turn of the century historic homes, many built in the era when lumber was the main economic stay, with lumber making the trek from northern Michigan to Chicago. Homes are built with field stone foundations from the rocks placed on empty boats to give them weight coming up Lake Michigan to gather lumber. The upkeep of these historic homes is a priority with those who live in the neighborhood.
Central/Old Town neighborhood is tight knit with a centrally located elementary school, many parks, and downtown within walking distance. The neighborhood is mainly families with young children to high school age. Extremely safe.

What I love about the home

The convenience of living in town. We walk to do our grocery shopping to weekly farm markets, grocery stores, and food co-op. Safe neighborhood with great neighbors. We lovingly remodeled the house, keeping with the lovely features of an old home, yet updated it with unique asthetic attributes and environmentally sound upgrades. This house is very economical to run!
