Neighborhood Description
House is at the nexus of Fremont, Phinney, Wallingford and Greenlake, all within walking distance. Neighborhoods like Ballard, U-District, Roosevelt and Greenwood are a 5-minute drive. House is not on the busy part of 50th, but on a lightly-trafficked, quiet spur that splits off. The Rose Garden and Zoo are directly across the street, creating a buffer that will be there forever. All the homes on the block date back to at least 1930 - a little touch of Brooklyn in Seattle.
 
What I love about the home
All the 1916 details either survived or were rebuilt: box beam ceilings, wainscoting, inlay floors, casing and trim for windows and doors, 5-panel solid wood doors, brass knobs and escutcheons, light fixtures. No anachronistic additions like cathedral ceilings or recessed lighting. Structural work (new footings, beams and posts) and all-new mechanical systems will ensure the host to last another 100 years.
