SVHS inspired to become the hardworking well educated woman and college student that I am today. I was always encouraged to reach for the moon and strive for the best there is. I was a member of the IB Academy and Band. While i found both programs to be a lot of work I learned to balance activities very early which has been my saving grace in college. The programs are tough but they teach students to think outside of the box and become an intellectual rather than just another high school student.

I disagree I think the new Principal has done a great job. He has gotten the school under control. He is also very sympathetic My family was dealing with a tough family situation and he listened to us and was very compassionate and still personally checks up on my son. I am so happy my son is a tiger with such a caring principal.

If I had the choice to give 0 stars I would. South View High School is number one for criminal activity in all public schools in Cumberland county. I do not suggest you put your child in this school. My son has been going to SVHS for two years (Thankfully this is his senior year) and has been threatened by students who are affiliated in the crip gang. His car has been vandalized multiple times and he is afraid of going to school. The new principle has no idea what he is doing. The guidance department cannot do their job correctly. Even though the school does have the IB program I would much rather my son go to a school where he and I do not fear that his safety is in danger.

I graduated in 09 in the honors and AP program. Only in those classes did I feel like was a focus on education and not behavior problem. My brother went there and we had many problems with the school. The teachers ignored his learning problems and the principal even told him to only come for his first period class then leave! After being held back 2 years in a row my brother dropped out(filling out paperwork and everything). A year and a half later South View called us and asked why he never came to school. Unless you're in sport or in the IB(which constantly has problems with cheating that is never addressed) you're just another nameless face.

South View is one of the best schools in the county & that's really not all that great considering the other schools. I go to a school where athletes get special treatment & regular students get below average education. Some teachers at South View are there to educate us but there is a whole lot there just to get the check. Unless you get in honors/AP classes your education always come second to behavior problems. I started taking honors classes my sophmore year & i was baffled at how the teachers actually TAUGHT us and was more intrested in us understanding the curriculum. Our prinicipal isn't really that involved in our school experience unless you are an athlete. The school is very bias. Besides education there is no fun what so ever. Besides the 2 pep rallies we get a year (which aren' treally fun) there is nothing to be excited about. If you're not in band football track or basketball your highschool experience is not going to be what you wanted it to be. Basically unless you want your child to get a fair education put them in honors/AP classes & if you want to experience high school in a fun way don't come.

GREAT a former student and now parent i can say that Southview is great. Our children love this school and this town. Hope Mills is small but close to Fayetteville. I noticed they added Nearby homes for sale and wanted to say that SteepleChase off of Golfview is a great community. We have lived here for 4 yrs and its super safe close to Rockfish Elementary close to Fantasy Lake water park the Rec center outdoor walking path golf course etc....the schools here are really great..inside Fayetteville not so much but we can say that Southview Hope Mills Middle and Rockfish Elementary are super great and super caring schools!!

After sending my son to South View for his first year i'm very disappointed in my decision to send him here. The gang violence was way more overwhelming then I had anticipated it to be. Crips had threatened my son multiple times which had gotten to a point were he would fear of going to school. I had originally decided to send him here because of the IB program. In all honesty isn't all that great like i had expected it too be. The school is falling apart and ever since the new principal it hasn't been looked into. Over all I would not risk the chances of sending your child to this school.

Has gone way down hill over the past few years. Major Problem!! Guidance department needs to keep employees updated with its available programs etc... There are quite a few things that needs attention here!

South View High School is a good school but I feel as a parent that the children are given excessive amounts of homework each night. My child begins their homework each night right after school is released and normally finishes their homework at about 10pm each night. That averages to about 5-6 hour s of homework nightly. I know my child s experience with excessive homework is not an isolated situation because several parents have also mentioned to me that they experience the same situation in their home as well.

Southview high is a great school. They are very good with the kids and the parents are involved. Drama sports academics are all important. They also have a great 9th grade course and a super autistic program!!

South View's IB Academy is the best educational opportunity for students in Cumberland County. You will find no better program or teachers at any other high school.

South View was a great high school to graduate from. All the teachers were great and always there to help in any type of situation. The athletic program was a lot fun. The coaches there are great and are just as excited about coaching as the students are about playing. I had wonderful teachers for the honor and AP classes. The school just ran really smoothly. There weren't really any fights or problems at the school. Everyone is really respectful and helpful. Teachers that you had freshmen year are more than willing to help you out your senior year. The teachers and counselors were always happy about writing recommendations for colleges and anything else you may need. I had a great time at South View. And after talking to other people at college about their highschools it is safe to say I had the best highschool experience in everyway.

Southview is an amazing school w/great teachers. The principle is geared and ready to go....the parents are involved and the kids are well behaved. We love it here and are glad that we are in a community that supports its schools!

South View has a new principal who is making the school into a safer environment focused on academics. The school is getting better and better with someone there to enforce rules and standards.

I have read the reviews that some parents put on here and I only disagree with the one from August of 2005. I used to go to South View and the counselors and teachers helped me out and they were always welcoming and willing to talk. Mr. Welters is the best science teacher that South View has but they just do not realize how smart he is.I was really upset when I had to leave South View. South View High School is the best school for high school kids to get the best education with caring people surrounding them and helping them. South View was like my second home. As far as the academics the boys b-ball team needs some help but the girls b-ball team is untouchable (well it was when I was there). Go Tigers!

My experience with this school and its administators and staff has not been good. My first son graduated with honors not once did a school counselor talk to him about college. Two kids I knew drop out with no one asking them why or what could be done to prevent them from droping out. My other son was having difulculties in class and we never once heard from the teacher or guidance counselors. The students who are having problems are not helped at all. They are not as great as they appear to be.

South View High has one of the best science teachers in the state in Mr. Welter. My son had Mr. Welter for chemistry and physics and has excelled in those areas in at NC State. If he is any indication of what the school offers as faculty then South View is the place to attend high school.

I know this school to be high spirited and intellectual with few difficulties. The students are all above average with very helpful teachers and the staff is amazing. Go Tigers! Academics are also fantastic with challenging AP and Honors classes as well as the IB Academy.

South View High School is a wonderful place for any student. This is a school that has wonderful programs and has huge support from the community. I can't think of a better place in my area for my children to recieve their education.
