My grandson has experiences great success at the Varnett Southwest Campus. He has been attending Varnett for three years and I have confidence in the quality of education he is receiving. He has scored at or above on all areas on all standardized test taken. There is an adequate child/staff ratio. The staff are caring professionals. Varnett as well as all schools could benefit from additional parental support. They utilize excellent educations programs. The campus is very secured and safe.

This is my child first year and I hate this school. My child has had 3 teachers since Aug. The one teacher that has been there through the changes is great. She teaches them sign language and make them feel important.I hope she stays because if my baby get one more teacher I'm going to go off.My child come home everyday and tell me how nice and exciting Mrs.Laverne is so the fact that she is with my baby makes me feel comfortable. She tells me about the good not just the bad my child does and she takes time to talk and answer your questions and if she is not sure just makes effort to find out for you and contact you back. But the principal/director Ms.Cluff is rude and stays on the phone talking loud. The management is poor and they are always asking for money for anything and if they have dress out of uniform day they charge the kids $3.00 to $5.00 every time they do it. And if you forget to pay or your child loses the money on the bus they are calling you over and over even if you at work. Its all about the money with them. Don't send your kids here it's so unorganized.

My daughter and son attended Varnett East Campus. My daughter developed her love for learning and she also learned to read. She still loves to read to this day. My son also learned to read. He matured tremendously and his temper tantrums went away. The teachers really care about the kids.

It is so funny that most of the good reports are from teahers... THIS IS NOT THE SCHOOL ANY KID SHOULD ATTEND IF A STABLE ENVIRONMENT IS WHAT YOUR LOOKING FOR 3 Teaches from August to Nvember!! Money is the #1 objective at this School . PLEASE PLACE YOUR CHILDS NAME ON EVERYTHING THEY OWN. my brought all of his materials and yes he did loose his folder once but 3 was required why was I informed to purchase another. I Marched right up to that school and had them find my son another folder I was not about to purchase another I dont care and dont know if anything else was passed from class to class. BUT IT IS UNFAIR FOR SOMEONE TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING NEEDED AND EXPECTED TO PURCHASE MORE MATERIALS

My two sons attended the SW campus during 2008 - 2013The oldest began in the 3rd grade and the youngest in the 1st grade I must agree with parents that the teachers are NOT reliable. My 3rd grader had 3 teachers in less than 6 weeks. This was very disturbing for the students and parents. Not the best impression. Little did I know that this was very typical especially after the winter break. Academically speaking I was pleased with the schools curriculum and high standards. They work very hard with the students. Uniforms are very overpriced but it differs them from other schools.Spring trips are pricy but very educational and fun. Transportation after school is convenient. Overall the school has its flaws but they get there job done. That's what really matters. At least for me.

In my experience as a parent I was very impressed with my children s teacher. My children were able to have the same teacher for Pre-K and Kindergarten. With this one teacher my children were able to excel greatly. My kids were able to speak and write clearly and their comprehension was very good. I was very impressed when my children were able to tell their Daddy and me I m able to do my homework by myself. I check their homework and for the most part everything is right.

This is the worst school hands down! The people are very ghetto and the entire school is in organized. Look up the superintendents name Annette Cluff and you will see she is under investigation. This is sad sad place. My kids still go here unfortunately but next school year they will not. Some people are nice e.g the nurse but everyone else is super ratchet! My son has had 3 teachers since August 2013 bc the teachers keep leaving. Ms. Cluff waltz her white head azz around there like she God. Her attitude is do stank. You can tell she feels she is better than the average person. Long story short do your research on this school please.

Research before enrolling your child or before applying for a job at this school. The turnover rate is high due to professionalism and the kids end up getting the short end of the stick.

This is my childs first year attending this school i did my research and reviews on it however i decided to give it a chance. My child has three different teachers the first 9 weeks of school until she finally got a teacher who they decided to teach her class. The staff are very nice and friendly except for the lady who works in the front at the desk she always has a mean look and a very horrible attitude. My child has learned alot more since she has started this year. The school overall is not as bad as i have read some reviews but there are a few things that they could change. The uniforms were a bit expensive as well.

If you are thinking of working for this school think twice! Teachers are treated like prisoners and constantly bullied. Trainings are unorganized. The campus is considered a "closed campus" meaning teachers cannot leave campus to get lunch or do whatever you want. While you eat lunch in the cafeteria teachers are constantly under surveillance. Teachers are also threatened constantly with being written up and fired by the superintendent's unprofessional daughter. Teachers are forced to listen to her personal life stories which have nothing to do with the job. Teachers quit weekly.

As a former parent of Varnett I am very satisfied with the type of academic discipline that Varnett has instilled into my children. The staff as a whole is very passionate nurturing and extremely dedicated to the success of all students. They provide a clean and safe learning environment that should be applauded. They also provide travel opportunities and well balanced nutritional meals for their students. Their academic program is designed for all learners not just a select few. Kudos to Varnett!!!

I have taught at Varnett for 6 yrs and my experience here has been enjoyable. During my time here the administration has always ensured that teachers receive the proper training needed to enhance the students' academic performance. The administration as well as the Superintendant have always put the students needs first.

I have been working here for 10 years and the school really cares about the students and education.

Varnett treats their employees horrible. They hire great teachers but cannot keep them. Varnett steals money from their employees and always holds the threat of being fired over their heads. This school year North East campus has lost a total of 4 Teacher and a great Director up until Nov 14. Which to me is a very high turn over. In regards to the curriculum they chose programs that are not even aligned with the TEKS and are obsolete. The classroom are over crowded for the size of room. Administration is a joke. There is not a discipline procedure the kids are yeld at and made fun of by upper management. When teachers look to their directors for help they turn the other way. I put in my 2 weeks notice to the director and was told I had to speak to the superintendent but after 4 messages she never returned my calls. So in order to get my resignation to Dr. Cluff I had to send it to her via certified mail. My opening has NOT been replaced nor was a sub brought in so the kids were split up in to 3 other room were these teachers have 20+ kids. Again STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The whole Cluff families are thieves and are stealing in the name of EDUCATION!

Varnett is a school system that deeply cares about its students and employs teachers who put the students first. In 2010 Varnett's East Campus was named by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School for its high student achievement. It was the only state charter school in Texas to be so recognized. Last year the entire district was among only 28 percent of school districts in Texas to meet the No Child Left Behind requirements. The campus directors teachers and staff are friendly enthusiastic and hard workers. Parents believe in the school and are active participants in their children's activities.

My sister and I both have a total of six children going to Varnett this year... After looking at the below reviews it looks as if there are more bad then good!!!!! I pray this will turn out for the best. I have bought 5 sets of uniforms X three kids but I pull them out faster then you can say VARNETT CHARTER SCHOOL... I'm looking to send my kids to better themselves... The sad part is most of the poor comments were concerning the staff... TEACHERS... THIS IS NOT GOOD... ALMOST TIME TO HOME SCHOOL MY TEAM!!!!

DO NO WORK AT THIS SCHOOL NOR SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL! Varnett treats their employees horrible. They hire great teachers but can not keep them. Varnett steals money from their employees and always holds the threat of being fired over their heads. This coming school year all 3 campuses experience a huge turn overate. Seven teachers quit at the SW campus and only 9 teachers returned to the North East campus. In regards to the curriculum they chose programs that are not even aligned with the TEKS. There are no ancillaries for the students. Primary grades do not even have a computer in the classroom. Administration is a joke. There is not a discipline plan and students run wild and free. When teachers look to their directors for help they turn the other cheek. 3 teachers from STAAR tested grades quit in the middle of the year. These teachers were NOT replaced nor was a sub brought in. By the end of the year the director (who is certified in special ed) was teaching a 3rd grade class. Again STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The whole Cluff family are thieves and are stealing in the name of EDUCATION! -FORMER EMPLOYEE

My child is in Pre-K 4 at Varnett. Communication levels are poor . This is the worst school every when it comes to skills. I have never experience such a low class of employees in my life. The classrooms are overcrowded with little organization. The teachers are overwhelmed.....My kid will not be attending Varnett next year.....

My son has gone to Varnett for 2 1/2 years and most of the time has been a horrible experience. He has been left at school because the teacher did not have him in the right area there are too many children in a class room and the teachers are unskilled and have no manners. My son cried and did not want to go to school because his teacher YELLED at him daily and I witnessed this on the school monitor with the principal. Her response was she would look in to the situation things got better and then right back to before. I was told he could not change teachers and told the principal after the semester my son would be withdrawn she took it upon her self to withdraw him and the last day of school for the semester he was not allowed to go. This school is HORRIBLE and I would not recommend it.

My child's teacher sent homework home and spelled President Obama's name "OBAHMAH".... need I say more! If you can't spell or know how to form a sentence correctly then you definitely should not be teaching children ANYTHING!
