California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

We could not wait for my daughter to graduate. Thank God she graduated and the nightmare is over. The levels of bullying at this HS are immensely high and what is worse is that the principle the vice-principle teachers and staff cover this issue with nice words to parents (sugar coated). In many occasions I contacted the assistant principal Mr.Raschke to address a few bullying issues that my daughter encountered. All I heard was that their mission is not to tolerate bullying behavior from any student and that he was going to take an immediate action to resolve it. Needless to say that never occurred. It broke my heart to see my daughters tears while she was telling me the horrific stories that she experienced at Edison. I few years ago my family and I moved to the city of HB looking for a better school district but unfortunately we picked the worse. Now we are looking to move to again to a better school district since I have another daughter and we do not want her to go through the same nightmare. If you are a parent and read this; I encourage you not to make the same mistake we did; if you really care for your children mental and physical health.

I love Edison ! It's an incredible school! The staff is amazing! and you can honestly see that they LOVE to teach! were a block away from the beach!!! and having teachers like Ms.Richter is what MAKES Edison! Especially with a great support team like the school Psychologists Mr.Kaplan and Ms.Beideman! I'm a senior this year and wouldn't have made it without the help of Ms.Richter Mr.Kaplan and Ms.Beideman. I LOVE my school and wouldn't want to go ANYWHERE else.

I am a former student that went to Edison High School Freshman and Sophmore year. I am now graduated but after Edison I got sent to 2 other high schools. I have to say Edison was the BEST school it was challenging and if you put your mind to it they have GREAT academic programs take advantage of all you can get out of Tutorials and Zero period and extracurricular activities. I wish I had! If I could go back to high school now I would go back to Edison it was great. A little hard to fit in but as for learning it is a fantastic learning environment. From what I can remember all my teachers were very nice and helpful too. They also have Amazing Counselors such as Mrs. Temple and various others who will help struggling teens with their problems.

I have only been to this school for one year and I must say that this is an awesome school. The teachers are very helpful and kind. Yes some of them can be crazy but all schools have their crazy teachers. I have not seen or heard of any bullying. The the athletics are outstanding! All of the teaching staff is very motivational and they try really hard to help you succeed. Based on my experience the students there are surprisingly mature besides the Freshmen of course. Every school has their problems but at EHS these problems are small. The schedule may be a bit awkward to some people but everybody gets used to it. Overall Edison is a pretty good school with a high graduation rate. Two thumbs up.

im going to school there now and i love it the teachers are great and im glad theres a turorial so if you need help with the homework or something we also have a great football team and other sport teams theres also lots of clubs to join like french club kiwins club.... my only complaint is that the work is really hard and i think they ned to hier some new science teacher but other that that its a great school

Edison is a pretty good school. It is rather crowded but with the budget as it is I'm assuming that most schools are likewise. I really enjoy the block schedule that is offered. It allows for a longer break time which is definitely needed when lines in the bathroom are extending to outside the door. The reason I gave Edison 4 stars is because the food is awful. Not only is it bad tasting it is almost impossible to eat on time. Despite this small setback I enjoy attending Edison very much.

edison was fun and a great environment not only in the educational sense but also the social ambience sense!!

Edison High School was a huge disappointment to me. I am a former student and before attending Edison I had just moved here from out of state. Edison is over crowded the students have poor discipline and the classes are not challenging. Not exactly a welcoming atmosphere as all high schools have their own social groups its hard to find a place to fit in.

I do not like the block scheduling and particularly the '0' period at 7am. Too early for anyone. Two hour classes may be okay for honor students but too long to focus for most. I am adamently again not having a 5th period when a student is in sports. Rules or no rules Frosh and Soph's can walk off campus from lunch at 12 15 until 2 30 to 3 pm. Not Good. Please....only an honor student may stay and 'study' definitely not the normal kid and not mine. Too much down time too hard to get back on track. Then sports can go to 6 pm or later they are tired having been at school since 7 am and who can study when tired and it's that late after dinner. Student says all homework done in class...I have seen None at home.

I do not like the Block scheduling that Edison High School has but if you have a child that excels this school has some wonderful programs (Cibac's Mun) great sports too. If you have a student that is average and poor at taking tests this may not be the school for your kid. I also feel the school is very over crowded. They have some wonderful teachers but some of the science teachers need an attitude adjustment. They also have a wonderful sign language teacher but she went on maternity leave and the fill in teacher was horrible! So basically Edison has some wonderful qualities and also qualities that aren't so appealing. If your child can't handle 2 hr classes this would not be the right school. Good and poor teachers are at every school. So if you get a incapadible teacher

We are very happy with the quality of education our children have received at Edison. There are some incredible enrichment programs offered to students (CIBACS MUN) and the sports programs are excellent.

    Good school great sports

This school is excellent with a consistently high AYP score. The acdemics excell and now that they have a new principal in D'liese Melendrez there is a new school-wide morale boost that also helps the kids love where they are. My only criticsm is over-crowding.

Excellent school. Good teachers. Great location. Solid educational experience.

The school has some excellent teachers and some distinctive academic classes such as 'Model United Nations' and a certificate program in international business. Parental involvment is strong and is aided by teacher-parent email communication. Because of budget cuts it has limited course offerings of electives and more vocational type classes. In sports the school teams do well often participating in regional championships.

I found Edison to be a wonderful experience for my children. I raised five children and three of them went to Ivy league schools after graduation. The work was challanging and the teachers kind and caring.

The school is amazing for academic quality but when it comes to extra-curricular activities they are over priced and booster clubs seem to not even help out on cost. The students have also learned that they can just walk off campus at any time during the day without a security guard saying something to them. Teachers are amazing though and are more than willingly to stay after school to help out students although there are a few that I feel need work in the Science department.
