Overall we were not happy with this school. We were initially interested in this school because of its NAEYC accreditation. However once our child was enrolled in the school we felt pressure from the administration for parents to fill out the NAEYC surveys in a way that would allow the school to keep its accreditation. We did not feel that the school responded to the concerns raised by parents on these surveys such as a lack of sufficient communication with teachers. We also felt that the school did not appreciate that children have various needs and developmental readiness. We felt pressured to potty train our child before we felt he was ready.

I have sent my three children here for toddlers through kindergarten. Cost a fortune but they were wonderful with my children. My experience with the toddler room was amazing. The teacher to child ratio is great and they were an excellent group of women that genuinely cared for the kids and taught them so much. This continues through preschool as well. I would recommend this school without hesitation.

This school is excellent. Having sent two children there I admit is is not cheap - but the difference is already being seen as our children are being evaluated for admission to private elementary schools. The staff is responsive caring and proactive. There are also numerous opportunities for additional activities (Spanish Gymnastics Ballet etc.) While montessori is not for "everyone " Northwood is superior to all of the other options in Irvine. Which is in part why the waiting list is so very long.

I love this school! Both of my children went here from toddlers through K and it has been great. Children are taught to be respectful and responsible in a loving environment. Montessori is about children becoming independent so if you want a place where somebody does everything for your child instead of showing them how to do it for themselves than this isn't it. I notice such a difference when I'm at a birthday party with other Montessori kids. They are respectful and polite and still have fun. Academically my children got a great foundation here. But the most important thing to me is what a positive impact this school has had on who they have become.

I wish I had read the review but unfortunately experienced it first-hand when my child was enrolled for 3 months in the toddler class after which I pulled him out. The school may work for some but for the most part I found that it didn't benefit us either education wise or from a caring perspective. It may be a better school for older children but the younger ones are not that well looked after.

This preschool was such a disappointment. Don't let the long waiting list fool you. My son started at three years old in a classroom with children from 3 to 5 years old. He was treated terribly and the teachers did nothing to promote a kind environment. Aggression was a problem and kids were not disciplined. The teachers were unresponsive and rude when approached with concerns. The director did not care to help because she has a waiting list a mile long. Be careful and go observe the classrooms throughout the day. You will see for yourself a lack of interaction with students and an uncaring demeanor. BEWARE!! Save your money!
