My children had some great teachers at this school. It services an affluent area and the parent involvement is very high. My children loved this school. This school is however used to affluent families and has little patience for families that may need some help due to a lack of resources. The administration would rather transfer a child out of the school than deal with the child's needs if any inconvenience can be avoided. Again the teachers are wonderful. The administration definitely does not put students first.

I am teacher (in another district) and a product of the Lowell Joint school district. My children go to El Portal and they LOVE it; as do I. The teachers at El Portal are second to none and I am very happy with the education my children are receiving! The staff at El Portal works hard to create a caring and warm environment where students are encouraged to be good citizens as well as learners. As a teacher I admire the staff's hard work and dedication. As a parent I am so glad my kids attend this wonderful school.

El Portal is a great school. We have a Kindergartner and a 2nd grader this year. The teachers are involved the academics are challenging but very good and the principal is engaging with the parents. If you are thinking about sending your kids to El Portal you are making an excellent choice.

My kids are new to the school this year. So far I really like all of the programs they offer. They still have music and PE also have several reading and math computer programs that seem to be a great learning tool.

The teachers are really great and seem to care about their students.

I love El Portal School for it's high academic standards and character development program. Also because I believe that every person working at our school has a genuine concern for the well being of the children attending El Portal!

At first my wife and I were a little concerned about sending our son to El Portal coming from a private school. But after meeting the principal and teachers and speaking with a number of parents we knew El Portal is the choice school for our son. And seeing yesterday s posting of the 2009 API results we are 100% sold on El Portal. Congratulations El Portal for your academic achievement!!!

We are a newer family to this school and are absolutely thrilled with everything about it! The teachers are caring involved and effective. Our kids are thriving!

I was so disappointed with El Portal. This school has no manners in teaching and they care more about their scores then they do about the children. They are disorganized and rude very cut and dry. I feel if you are in the business of teaching you really need to care and love what you do and care about the children because they are our future.

I am a very proud parent of El Portal School and an even more prouder partent of my daughter as a student of El Portal from Kindergarten to six grade. The teachers principal students parents of students and whole school district are excellent. El Portal has given my daughter a great start with their programs and incentives such as putting it's student first teaching them moral values and character and providing them a high level of education. My only regret is that my oldest two daughters didn't have the same opportunity to go to El Portal. This is definately an A + school. Its is highly recommended. Yvonne Ortiz

I am not a fan of El Portal. I have had children in this school for the last 5 years. A lot is expected from the children but little to no help is ever offered. I also feel there are too many unnecessary rules especially at recess. Rules are important but kids also need a chance to be kids. They seem to get in trouble for every little thing and the punishment rarely fits the crime. The atmosphere fosters tattletales and doesn't encourage good social skills or respect for authority. Limit rules to dangerous and hurtful behavior and consistently enforce them. We will not be enrolling are youngest child next year.

This is our first year at El Portal. We have an older daughter that has always been in a private school and we are just as impressed with what El Portal gives our Kindergartener. El Portal has always had an excellent reputation for putting our kids first promoting traditional values that parents treasure and for instilling that character counts. With it's effective parental involvement that seals the deal for parents in La Habra El Portal is definitely an A-plus elementary school in a Top Rated Lowell-Joint District.
