West Oak has the best band/choir program there is. The children are challenged and they are encouraged to thrive. The principal is very involved and the teachers have an excellent relationship with the parents.

My son has thrived at West Oak. When we 1st moved to the area 20 years ago we had no children. Before my son started school we shopped for schools in the area. We interviewed all the principals and toured the schools from Buffalo Grove to Libertyville. When we found out Dist 76 had a Dual Language program we stopped our search and waited for him to be tested. We were thrilled when he got in and we were happy when his sister got in as well 3 years later. While there have been some ups and downs my children thrived in all 3 schools. My children both benefitted from speech therapy remedial reading and enrichment programs. While I did my stint in being secretary with the PTO and various school referendum and other committees there were a lot of school activities for my children to be involved in as well. I can t thank the teachers enough for all they ve done for my children. They totally go above and beyond!

My oldest is currently going into 7th grade at WO and she is having a WOnderful experience there. Tons of opportunities for extracurricular activities and a great academic challenge. She has yet to have a teacher she dislikes. I look forward to my younger children attending this winner!

My son just finished his first year at West Oak. What an incredible education great teachers and staff who truly wants the best for their students!!! At District 76 our students still get music art physical education. Additionally did you know that at grade 5 all students are available to be in a school band. District 76 still has extracurricular activites and they are so supportive of the programs. District 76 not only has spirit but they have great students who perform well. District 76 feeds into two high schools with one being Adlai E Stevenson and the other is Mundelein. According to feedback I have heard from school is that our students are above average when going into high school for education. We have small class sizes and lots of support from teachers and staff. We moved a few years ago and made sure we stayed in District 76!

We have two children at West Oak who have attended District 76 since kindergarten. Our oldest child recently tested into all accelerated or honors courses at Stevenson High School. Our children have taken advantage of the extracurricular activities homework support and evening programs sponsored by the school. We feel the small class sizes individual student attention given by teachers and the close working relationships by the principal and vice principal have greatly enhanced our children's school experience at West Oak. I have served on parent/faculty committees to evaluate school policies and feel extremely confident in the leadership at West Oak. The PTO is very active at the school and has many volunteers to support numerous activities and fundraisers throughout the year. We are very pleased with the education that our children have received in District 76.

West Oak is an excellent school that keeps getting better. I would recommend it to anybody. I have a seventh grader at West Oak and a junior at Stevenson High School. Both went through the District 76 system since Kindergarten. West Oak did an exceptional job at preparing my oldest daughter for Stevenson High School. As a freshman she placed into all accelerated or honors classes in math English and science and is currently excelling in multiple AP classes as a junior. I am confident my 7th grade daughter will be equally well prepared when she enters Stevenson High School. I am pleased with the West Oak curriculum the high expectations of the teaching staff with the abundance of extra-curricular activities available and with the school environment which is diverse respectful safe supportive and orderly.

I have found the curriculum to be challenging interesting and to a certain degree individualized. Music art band and choir are integrated in the school day and are definitely treated just as important and critical as the three R's. I have a son who enjoys art very much and between his twice weekly art class and his involvement in an after school Art Club has satiated his desire. the band program is award winning and although it involves daily commitment I've found that the seriousness with which it is treated within the school enables my son to want to perform to the best of his ability. I have also found the extracurricular activities to be diverse and numerous. Parental involvement appears to be appropriate.
