Its a great school. The students are very nice and the teachers are excellent. The IB Program is amazing.

I am an eighth grader in IB here at Moody. Overall the curriculum is challenging and rigorous. There is a variety of different classes sports clubs and languages that are available to each student. The most difficult year is seventh grade because of the numerous projects. Overall I would recommend Moody to committed and driven students who are willing to word VERY hard at school.

I'm a 7th grader at Moody this year and I can most definetly say that Moody is the best middle school in the state. We have a vigourous yet creative curriculum that keeps students interested. We do high school level labs and have sccess to extraordinary resources. The IB programme is a beautifully constructed program which enables students to interact deeper with their education. Parents will never understand the experiences at Moody as it is a unique adventure that cannot even be told. Though Mr. Llewellyn was never as good as Mr. Raymond he does represent our school in the best way. I know i will miss my time as a raider when it's time for me to leave.

My daughter started the IB program this year (2012) at Moody Middle. The teachers and staff have been extremely helpful and they care about the kids! The quality of teaching at this school is top notch. The program is amazing and the new principal of Moody Middle Mr. Llewellyn has been wonderful and even helped us solve an unsafe situation with the morning drop off area. I can only hope that the remaining two 1/2 years at Moody Middle will be just as amazing.

I'm an 8th grader at Moody and I love it! the friendships i've formed are awesome the curriculum is challenging but rewarding and the teachers want the students to succeed. I'm in the IB program and really enjoy it and feel it will definitely help me through my high school and college career. We are Moody we play chess we read textbooks we're the best!

Bar none this is the best middle school experience you can ask for your child in the Central VA area. Mr Raymond runs a highly effective school which houses the diversity of a high achieving IB program while incorporating excellence with the local kids in the school zone. Teachers are passionate and the kids are friendly and very accepting of differences.

Mr. Raymond is the best principal of all of the schools my children have attended. Moody also has excellent administrators and fantastic teachers.

Moody is an amazing school where students as well as teachers strive for excellence.

I am in 7th grade in the IB program and I hate it here. Everyone is always mentioning how fantastic of a school this is however I disagree. While it is not the worst school ever I feel that some teachers do not teach. The routine in some classes is more of a worksheet packet quiz operation and less of an immersive environment. Also the 'IB Assessments' don't count toward or against your grade so no one really tries on those which is pointless. I don't think being in IB is any different than advanced classes at any other school.

I have mixed feelings about Moody. I have one child at Moody and one at Short Pump Middle. I feel they are equal academically with great and not-so-great teachers at both schools. Moody has the Ib program but Short Pump also has advanced classes. The downside of Moody is that once high school acceptances come out the kids start dropping their friends who aren't going to the same high schools. It can be a rough end to eighth grade if you aren't going to Maggie Walker Henrico or Godwin. Although my child is a straight A student and in all advanced classes and has won many awards we might have been better off staying at Short Pump and having more continuity of friendships. We really admire Mr. Raymond and have had good experiences at Moody but the transition to high school is now a lot harder than it has to be.

omg i loveed moody it was soo much fun. the teachers are all awesome (except for hendricks lol) they have great learning experiances and oppertunities. and not to mention the ib program! however it was always rumored that some of the ib kids bought their way into the program lol its just a myth though overall its awesome everybody is friendly

moody is great school. i am and IB student there grade 7 and i love it! of course like most schools there are some mean people and some people who only hang out with other specific people but that doesn't always happen at moody. there are barely any fights and mostly every one is friendly

Great school great staff!!! I do agree with the non IB being treated differently!

I am a first year student at this school and I absolutley love it. I am IB and I do have friends that are non-IB. Of course you must expect emphasis on the IB program that is the main reason the school is so fabulous. Staff and faculty are amazing always on top of trouble the teachers use amazing techniques. The arts and sports programs are great with strings chorale art and technology electives. I have always wanted to be at Moody and I am happy to be here.

I'm in my second year at this school and I love it. But I do not agree with the fact that sometimes non-IB students are treated differently. Most IB students do not descriminate many are friends with them. Some times students are demeaning to eachother and not just IB students. Some non-IB students make fun of IB students too. Besides that part of the reviews by other parents the teachers are for the most part wonderful and the school is really nice.

    This school is the best!

Moody is an excellent school. There is some disparity between the IB students and the non IB students. The regular students do seem to be treated as second class citizens within their own school at times.

I have experienced this school for 2 years going on 3. It is a good school overall - the administration is on top of problems with behavior. The only thing I do not like is the emphasis that is put on the IB Program. While this is a good program for those involved it sometimes makes the other half of the school feel unimportant - for instance the rest of the school knows they won't receive certain awards etc. at the end of the year because the IB Program usually receives high achievement awards - things of that nature. Compared to other schools this may seem like a small problem - but as a parent of 2 students who are bright and advanced but not up to the 'IB cirriculum' it is hard to see them put themselves down. Most teachers are wonderful - principals are great.
