2 out of 10 i feel that Grant elementry school is 2 out of 10 because well it does not have separet class rooms and kids can not concrete because of the other kids being loud. There is always problems in the cafeteria i dont know what is going on but it is bad. and kids are always getting sick because they have to wait outside of the school for 30-40 mins every morning. that is why i give it a 2

My daughter attended Grant Elementary for 2 years and my son for 1. I was really impressed by the caring nature of the staff. Both of my children improved their social skills and their grades improved as well. The principal Mrs. Ramsay is very approachable and knows all her students by name. I am very sad to have to leave the Lakewood area but if I am able to return I would send my children back to Grant without hesitation.
Even though Lakewood is voting to close this school by 2013 My step-son attends all day Kindergarten and is doing great. Lakewood needs to keep this Elementary open for the central downtown children due to it's location and not just look at the resale value of the land with so many other commercial properties already sitting unoccupied.
This is an excellent school in my opinion. I have two children so far that go to Grant and the teachers are always ready to answer any questions and help the children with any problems they are having. The teachers keep the parents notified of any problems they see and listen to the parents concerns.
This school was so amazing when I was growing up that I sent my daughter there. I love the academic level that the children can recieve. My child right now is in there gifted program and the teacher's knowledge and understanding is amazing. They always know what to do to keep her right on track. I am also a member of their PTA which gets everyone in the community involved and is just incredible. I highly recommend this school to anyone in the area.
My daughter has just started the 2nd grade at Grant Elementary due to the fact that her previous school Madison was torn down this year. So far my only concerns are safety issues for drop-off and pick-up procedures and the lack of art education.
