This school is considered the best in the district but I think that there are major improvements needed. The students don't want to learn and don't try to learn they are very disrespectful to adults and each other. The teachers are just as bad they are hardly ever there to teach and the ones who are there rely on the internet to teach kids rather than interact with the kids to help them understand the material. They have online classes for stuff that should be demonstrated by a real teacher like P.E. and Chemistry. The kids here are not going to make it far with the system this school has set up the admins and teachers expect a computer to do all the work while they earn a paycheck. Major improvements are needed.

Through the years 2011 and 2012 AVHS has made good improvements! We have new and wonderful teachers and staff. Not all but most teachers are good! This year I learned how to think rationally and intellectually. Also our students have changed in a way as well.We all learned to coexist on this campus with one another.Yes there are still certain students who can be disruptive but they are still a good group of students who care! We still have fun and come together as students with similar backgrounds.I love this this school! Go Lopes 2013!!!

I am disappointed in Antelope Valley. I am a student here yet I can not find myself comfortable in a classroom any longer.I love to learn yet how is it possible when half the time (im sure the administration should become aware) the students this year are the the most challanging most have had to share a class with?! The classes are large arguments(usually only verbal with threats) are quick to escalate to shouting yet the teachers can not create the discipline needed to control thier classes. These selfish and loud students will continue to make a mockery of an other wise good school ! I see no reason to keep these immature and childish ones in class why not pull them and see how much is really done? I know every one deserves a chance at education but why keep the ones who blow it off? Keep the ones who care!

The mere fact that a student says that 'we are happy kids instead of puppets following a harsh system' speaks a lot about the level of maturity and discipline at this school.

I love AV high school also why because i was a student there all four years and i graduated in 08 and all four years i had fun and all the teachers will help you there. i miss AVHS so much and i hope all the students there likes AVHS as much as i do!

I love A.V. because as students we are all able to express our indivuality and who we are as maturing teens. Yes we lack a strong discipline system but we are happy kids instead of being puppets following a harsh system.

This school is the best!! I went here all 4 years and graduated in 09. Overall this school has a lot less problems than some of the other schools. It is not what it used to be when the state took over. They now have an extremely helpful and caring staff that does their best each day to make Antelope Valley a better and successful school. With a whole new administration came change. Ms. Lockhart definitely helped made a huge difference in turning a once bad school around. Test scores and attendance have been improving and they are restoring the school pride that has been missing when the state took over. Teachers spend extra time to make sure students understand what they are learning. They have a great preparation for college with the career center along with amazing counselors and trips to campuses. Recently the school was repainted and renovated the stadium to update it. I think if they fixed and cleaned up a couple of classrooms and bathrooms the school would look great. The only problem the school has is parent volunteering. If more parents were involved I think they would be able to do a lot more things with a little help. I would recommend this school over all the other 7 in the district.

There is a VERY low level of violence at AV HIgh. My child loves the school. They are working very hard to raise test scores.

This school is amazing!!! The pricipal is very enthusiastic and encourages her students to do their best and never give up

I must applaud the new principal and asst principal as well as the counselors at this school. My son has had serious challenges with behavior and special accomodations and the staff has been right there to help me all along. I have been able to talk to them via email daily and keep up with progress in meetings and he is now on track in his second year. School is what you make of it so blaming schools for failure is not my thing. i'm very impressed with the leadership of these teachers and staff and although some are better than others so far the school has come through and offered additional services whenever i need help. Recently they ended the problem of parents who stop in front of the school to pick up! Now if we can only teach crosswalk safety I'd be pleased.

I have worked at this marvelous school for the past 9 years. It fills me with so much joy to be part of what was known as an 'underachieving school' to now being seen as a better performing school. Test scores are on the rise. We graduate more students each year especially in the special education realm. Alumni come back to express gratitude regularly. It is a wonderful force in the AV to be part of and I am proud constantly of our achievements especially my unique club Teen Builders.

i graduated from this school may 2009. Forget the state test scores this school is amazing! the people community sports and educators are really unique and go above and beyond for the students. I'm now enrolled in a 4 yr school with scholarships and most importantly memories of a life time! Its very diverse! If you really want your child to go places send them here where real life nurishes your child to be the best they can be! This school is never boring! i Love AV! Go Antelopes!!

Yes I agree AV is alittle tuffer than other schools however I have family with children in all the high school in the av area including little rock and you know everyone has it's issues. I believe the school is what you make it to be. My son graduated in '08 from AV and although there were obstacules as in any area my son made great grades all four years participated in sports made great friends with the pupils and within the facility. He now serves his country in the Marines. So AV is not that bad.

A.V is a really good school i think that people is stupid because they say that a.v is a bad school before attending there. I love a.v i'm glad that i'm graduating from this school.'09' A.V for life.

Antelope Valley High School Doesn't exactley Have The best Reputation. I was Skeptic about attending A.v and i Ended up Loving it. Unfortunetly I had To Leave After Sophomore Year to Attend a 'better School' according to My parents. Anyway The School Grows on You. And so Do some of the people.I Miss Antelope Valley High.Teachers Are some and fi Your willing To learn Their willing to teach.

I am a senior at AVHS and I believe that this school has blossomed over the years. I can remember that I begged my parents not to send me off to AV but I am glad to say I'm happy I stayed. I have always heard that AV was a 'bad' 'ghetto' 'stupid' school but I have met students here that have intelligence and plenty of class! One of my closes friends recieved the highest score of the written part of the SATs! Besides the students I can see a huge turn-a-round since Mrs. Trish Lockhart became principal. I can honeslty say that these last 2years of my high school experience have been the best! I feel like she is truly more involved with the students and campus and I can see a difference in the school's staff! There was racial violence going on but it has declined tremendously!

Im a student here and I think like most schools this one isnt an exception because all schools have problems! And most teachers are great and if you want to learn they will teach but for me there are some teachers who dont explain the subject good enough.

i am not a parent i go to the school and i dont know why people dont like it. there are a lot less problems there than other schools here and if you want to learn then you do so what if the people arouind you dont

I'm now in my junior year at AVHS I went from being homeschooled all my life to the supposedly 'bad school'. It is no worse if not better then the other schools in the district. I have done very well at AV so far and it drives me insane when people bag on the school because most of the time they don't know anything about the subject or have only seen AV in its worst years. Well things change and now it grows better and better each year. Its biggest problem is that many students don't want to learn so I take honors and AP classes which I believe anyone can do if they work hard enough. We have a nice campus and good teachers and administration. We aren't overcrowded like the 'good schools' in the district are. AV's reputation does not do it justice.
