The staff at Mariposa is very motivated to helping students achieve their best. This past year we even increased our API rating to 731 an increase of 34. Go Monarchs!
I know from being a teacher at the school that we all work very hard for our students.
My son has attended this school since kindergarten and he is now in the 1st grade. I am very happy with Mariposa school and all the staff. I find the staff to be very involved and genuinly care about the wellbeing of my child. I recently got a call from the school that a lunch aide was concerned about my son not eating lunch. To some this may not have seemed like a big deal but I was very appreciative of her concern for my son. The new principal is great and I love that there are always family activity nights that alllow us to have dinner at awesome prices and a chance to have fun as a family. Some people look down on Mariposa School because of the neighborhood its in. Mariposa gets 5 stars in my book.
This school is the best kept secret in the Lancaster School District! There is a core group of teachers who have been teaching at this school for 10+ years. The amount of dedication and effort most of the staff demonstrate is top notch! The majority of the teachers who teach at this school enroll their own children. It is important to note that the district's current Superintendent sent his own child to this school at one point. I think it gets a bad rep because of the state test scores but there is no reason for a child not to be successful at this school. After school tutoring and Saturday school are provided regularly. The kids who have parents who are involved with the school and care about their child's progress experience high achievment. My family has done great- we love this school!
My kids gotto this school. At first I was very dissapointed. As time has gone on I very much like the school and the teachers. The new principle is very good and my kids love the school.
I have sent my son to this school since K he is now in third grade. He has consistently been awadrded scholarship awards. I am some what concerned with the test results but I am going to give the school one more year because the teachers have been wonderful and my son seems to be doing alright here. My biggest concern is lower standards I don't want him to be at the top of a second rate school that lowers their standards. I want him challenged like the children at other top rated public schools.
I am very disapointed with our schools test results. I am concerned that there is a lack of proper education. The children are not cookie cutter children they all learn differently and not all of their needs are being met individually. I think the teachers are missing a lot of students that need extra help and they need to individualize thier teaching to meet the childrens different learning styles.
My son attends this school he is a 1st grader. He does very well in his studies. Now the school might be a little rough but so is life. What I don't understand about the statement that was made in regards to the child being bussed to this school from 'their much nicer neighborhood' is WHY? If your neighborhood is that much nicer than surely you could have found a school in your neighborhood and if not there are other schools here or do those not meet your standard. If you start your child out that way always running to the school for every little thing and pulling them out I can tell you now that you will be creating a monster. Kids have to learn that everything in life is not going to be easy or what they want it to be. This is what they must learn. DJH
This school is absolutely horrible beyond my wildest dreams! It is so bad I have refused to send my son back to this school. I never heard about extracurricular activities. After visiting the Principal's office about half a dozen times I have decided to home school my son. The most annoying thing is that my son was bussed about 5 miles to this school from our much nicer neighborhood. Do not send your children here!
There is a strong group of teachers at the school. The school environment is somewhat rough which at times hinders the education of the children and may also bring down the expectations of the teachers.
