LC is an amazing school for those who choose to take advantage of all the school has to offer. It has a rigorous curriculum for those who wish to be challenged. Extra curricular programming is outstanding in both athletics and performing arts. Students who put forth effort are more than prepared for their next step in life. My experience as a parent has been wonderful. Love the staff students and parents that I have volunteered with over the years.

A horrible school with an uncaring staff and not much structure. Kids go around causing trouble and nobody does anything. The teachers don't care whether your child is learning and thriving or not and give no helpful feedback.
Lawrence Central High School is a terrible school for students and parents who desire more for their children. The teachers use profanity in the classroom offer little to no support of their students in need and give no feedback that is beneficial to parents about their students. I have not only been disappointed but frustrated at the lack of parental support that they provide even though I have asked. Because they are not a failing school I have no options but to send my children to this less than sub par institution. If you can avoid this school do it it serves no one but the people for which it employs.
My child is a Junior at Lawrence Central. Our Family has found the teachers to be very qualified and caring. There is diversity at the school that we believe will prepare our child for the real world. They offer a great curriculum for college bound students that is challenging. We are happy with our decision to send our daughter there. She feels safe there. When I ask is there bullying at her school she says not really. They have had 3 new principals in the last three years but the teachers continue to do a great despite the change.
I think LC rocks and I like how they teach anad how the teachers are willing to help students are are sincer about it...i may just be a freashman and it may only be a couple of weeks into the 2nd semester but im telling you it's a great school and they really care about our saftey and well-being and our educations....
I graduated from LC in 1968. My two oldest children graduated in 87 and 93. I have a child in 10th at the present. I have remained living in Lawrence because of the school system. They do their very best to see that EACH student graduates. Some of the parents need to go back to being parents and HELP the schools to see that their children succeed. Sure there are times you don't agree with every teacher but could you do a better job? Personally I think Lawrence Central is still a first rate school on all counts!
Great sport band choir and color guard clubs and young life
The counselors made sure my daughter had the best possible chance of succeding through her four years at LC. And she did! She graduated with the IB diploma and went on to Rose-H. Institute!
I attended Lawrence Central from 2003 to 2006 and am glad to be done. Yes there are good teachers and the school's curriculum prepared me very well for college but my overall experience was disappointing. The administration does a very poor job of enforcing safety and discipline. Also some of the support staff members are very rude. If you are concerned about your child's safety I wound not recommend LC.
I am really happy to have graduated two of my kids from this school. It is a very safe and great place to be.
We are ready to graduate our 2nd child from LC and glad to be finished here. Each year the experience becomes more disappointing. The teachers have become apathetic and unapproachable. Academics are low extracurricular activities are poorly attended and school spirit is non-existent.
In a school with such a large student body small % is involved in extracurricular nor is it encouraged. Safety issues are glazed over - there is no such thing as an honest answer in regards to this subject. The quality of education at LC continues to decline every year. It is sad but true that this has become a 2nd rate school. It's an embarrassment to admit this is our school which accounts for the large number of families moving elsewhere.
Although there are many great teachers there are those that show favortism which hurts overall moral in my child's opinion. I also get the feeling that the administration would rather shove problems under the rug or blame the student. It does seem there is some improvement in the counselor's office this year though.
I was a student at Lawrence Central High School from 2000-2002. I can honestly say that Lawrence Central is the best school I have ever attended. The vast majority of my teachers always made sure that their class understood whatever it was they were theaching and always took time out of their schedule to help any student who was have problems whether it concerned school work or not. The school had a very wide selection of subjects to choose from no matter what interested the students and so many extracurricular activities that something was happening at the school almost every single night. I always felt safe in that school where ever I was and most of the students and staff were very friendly. When I moved away and attended a different high school I found that I missed Lawrence Central and all that it could do for me.
As a student at Lawrence Central I know first hand about the terrible education I am recieving. Administrators are so focused on protecting the Hispanics it makes my school a haven for bigotry. Ten years ago Lawrence Township was a nice place to be able to say you were a student of. What used to be a social status is now just a disgrace to the community. I am embarrassed of my school. Even though the statistics don't show that whites are the minority I definitly feel that we are. All of the focus on treating every student the same has caused the educational value to drop dramatically. Hispanics are treated with sympathy because they can't speak English and it disgusts me. I wouldn't recommend Lawrence Township to anyone.
This school is perfect for the student that wants a high GPA to help defray college costs via a scholarship. The counselors are disorganized and not very helpful. I don't think the school is as safe as the administrators want you to think. The mixing of the socio-economic extremes does not work.
Ugh! There is major grade inflation at this school! The school can be unsafe and the incidents are usually buried in the paper shuffle. There are a few nice teachers but they have watered down the content too much. Parents need to dig in and find out how they really deal with all the violence. On the surface the school looks good but once you get passed that it isn't much to brag about. If you are going to go to a state college this may be all you need so long as you can avoid getting hurt.
As a student of this school let me explain exactly what goes on at LC. First the administration is so focused on diversity they have forgotten to unify. The allowance of extreme de facto segregation has caused racism to errupt and politically correct teachers to ignore the problem. The counseling at Lawrence Central is a joke and non-existent with the exception of one Mrs. Oakes. What once was a decent school about 5-10 years ago has become political correctness run amuck. Until we can regulate all behavior based on behavior and not race the school will continue to decline into delapidation and further corruption.
We have had 2of 3 children gradurate from LC class of 98 & 2000.Both went on to college the oldest is in grad.school the 2nd will grad in June.Third is a sophmore. We really like this school district.Just remeber to keep involved and have your student in activies.
I believe the school is doing an excellent job in pursuing challenging cirriculum and shaping the blend of courses for my daughter. She is a top student nationally so it is important for us to provide her with a strong learning environment. We took her out of private school because she was not challengesd academically and it lacked diversity. Lawrence Central is different and offers her more especially the new IB level courses.
