Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT)

In 2008-2009 Oklahoma used the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math. Students in grade 5 were also tested in writing, science and social studies. Students in grade 7 were tested in geography, and students in grade 8 were tested in writing, science and U.S. history. The results for reading, math, science and social studies are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The OCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oklahoma. The goal is for all students to score at or above the satisfactory level on the test.

Our teachers and principal are wonderful to the kids. A lot of effort goes into raising test scores each year. Although the scores may seem low they represent the changing population of the neighborhood not the quality of teaching. Parent involvement has gone up this year in all areas school events PTA and Booster Club. The new school addition insures that Hoover will be a long-term facility and everyone is excited about the growth! Soccer football basketball and baseball are all offered. I may be biased as PTA President but my kids have been in this school for several years. We also had a chance to transfer to Hugh Bish but were happy to remain at Hoover (soon to be Ridgecrest). I hope that helps!
