Leland Middle School has been a part of my life off and on for a lot of years My sons went there and now I have grandsons that go there. I have always found the school staff to be very knowable and accessible to parents and the children in regards to keeping them aware of what is going on in the school. My sons and like I said my grandsons really love the school.

My child has attended LMS for 1 year. He really likes the school and the teachers he currently has for his classes. I have heard good reviews and bad reviews concerning LMS. Personally I am very satisfied with the professionalism of the adminsitrators and teaching staff at LMS. From what I understand this is a Title I school that is constantly striving to become better and better on a daily basis. The town of Leland is ever-changing for the better and I am proud of the direction we are heading in. The biggest challenge I can see that Leland Middle School has is the huge lack of parental support as evidenced by me attending school functions this year with my son where I observed low numbers in attendance. Regardless of whether you are college educated or not you can always get off your behind and support your child's education and extra-curricular activities. I couldn't imagine the job the admins and teachers have at this school working with such a tough demographic of students primarly from a diverse rural low income level. I plan to continue to support LMS and most importantly my son. Better and Better!

As a former student at the school all i can say is that the school was poor for most of the part. We would find dead roaches and some of the staff were mean. we had to walk in single file line like kindergartners. The principal was at one point very rude to me" the lady at the front desk i thought was racist. as i was next in line with a bleeding nose and a white kid just comes in and she attends to him first (i am hispanic) i remember at one point in like 7th grade we only got 10 mins of recces. Some of the teachers that worked there told us that the school was like a jail.we had the most ghetto sports area the tenis fence was red with rust cracked up black top for basket ball but some teachers were great
