My son is studying at ACS 3rd garde. I have two nieces and a nephew also from ACS. My eldest niece now is in college for her Pharmacy degree the other two are in high school. The school system is great and the management willing to accept opinion for improvement. There were a lot of great and experience teachers most of them are retiring... The new "batch" of teachers need to be working together with and wait to see their profession.. Overall ACS is a great school to "breed" the youngs.

I'd say 4 out of 5 stars is fair. My father in law went there I went there and my two kids go there. It's an average school in an average community...a little heavy on the staffing and no real incorporation of technology in the classroom but they make due with what is there. I have one kid that excels and one that struggles. The one that struggles gets shuffled along from grade to grade with the hope that she will "grow out of it" and so far she hasn't. I will tell you one thing...you can't go by any parents opinion that only has one kid in the school...their experience is not broad enough to make a fair judgement mine wouldn't be either if I only went by one kids experience. The administration is the weak link the teachers are average and like most communities 20% of the parents are involved. There is a large (30%) Korean American community in Leonia.

I just heard about this site and was curious about what people were saying about the elementary school in Leonia. Both my children attend the ACS Elementary School and have had nothing but an excellent experience! The Principal and Vice Principal are very knowledgeable smart and treat the parents and children with the utmost respect. They are always engaged in what is going on wthin the school and town community. A few years ago my husband and I were deciding if we should raise our children in Leonia or move to Ridgewood which also has a "great reputation". I have never doubted our decision to educate our children here in Leonia. We do have the best Principal Vice Principal teachers and support Staff. It's too bad that people are so mis-informed that they would make such a comment. If I were a realtor I would highly recommend raising a family here.

The teachers and staff have no clue what is happening to the children at school unless parents inform them of it.

ACS was a wonderful school for my children. It has one of the best Art teachers anywhere. It is a happy and caring environment for children. Good academics too. Also high marks for the school nurse and office staff who know each and every oneof the students by name and also most of the parents! The Home and School Assn. is one of the strongest I've ever seen. They do SO MUCH for the school and students including a great educational assembly program author visits and family events. Teachers care staff cares. Go see the Student Art Show in May. It is AMAZING!
