My son is a student at Lester Elementary School and I could not have picked a better school for him. The teachers and staff are fantastic. They care about the children and their education in a manner like I've never seen before. I would recommend Lester to any parent!

I really like this school. I am a working parent with no medical insurance the teachers and principal were great in helping me get my child a pair of glasses.

I recently moved here and placed my son in Lester Elementary. I have been satisfied with the principal and although he is a new principal I believe that he has a realistic vision for the school and is fully capable of implementing his goals. I am not so sure about the parent/teacher participation. I truly believe that very few schools have enough funding because they don't have any after-school programs(except sports related activities). I will try to become part of the solution not part of the problem! The school is clean and has a pleasant decor.

i have to agree with the comment about the principle at Lester..he is set in his ways..there no sports..but thats the parents fault..he cant make them do it..im 31 and he was my principle in 5th grade..my stepson is in middle school now but when he left he left smart..i have 2 other children there now..my 4 year old in preschool shocks me daily with what he learns..my daughter is in second grade reading chapter books and again straight As other than he is strict and a little old fashion i have to give him a little more credit..he is retiring this year and me and my kids will miss him..

my grandaughter goes to lester and is very happy with this school.she is in the 3rd grade and is doing great.they have alot of activities that other schools doesnt.she has never had a problem with the teachers and puts alot of intrest in her school.we all have to work togeather and voice our ideas it can always be better but then again it could be worse.we all need to thank GOD our kids have a school to go to plus we all have a freedom to say the things we do and dont like! Lester Elmentary School has the potiental to be a great school again. Unfortunately we currently have a huge gap in our parent/teacher/principal relationships. Our current principal has been at the school for many years now and is firmly set in his ways. Any time a parent or teachers makes a suggestion about change of any sort that suggestion is immediately shot down. His reasoning is always 'It's been tried and it doesn't work at Lester.' or 'It's to hard to do we don't have enough parent participation.' or my personal favorite 'I don't want to do that.' Last year we tried to organise a PTO. We elected a wonderful President who tried her very best. She recieved very little for her efforts. Our parents would love to do more but dealing with our principal has become such a kick in the gut that now they don't even try.

This is my daughter's first year of school and we just moved to Beckly West Virgina and had to place our daughter in Lester elementary big mistake! We wanted to but her in Coal City because we have family who's kids' go and have gone there and they absolutly loved it. However after much of a struggle and trying to avoid the placing her in Lester we finally had to. She has been through 3 teachers this year and what can you say about a school that goes through three teachers in a year right? We are just trying to get through the year and get her into a better school we have even cosidered private school or if no other choice home school.
