New York State Assessments (NYSA)

Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, the New York State Department of Instruction implemented new assessments designed to be aligned with the Common Core State Standards. The new standards for proficiency in these subjects are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change. See http://www.engageny.org/sites/default/files/resource/attachments/test_score_release_letter_to_parents.pdf from New York's Commissioner of Education for more information on these changes. In 2013-2014 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in Science. At present 2013-14 results are available only for English language arts and math. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to mee

We moved to this zip code becauses of the schooing quality and relative good value of the real estate. My daughter is truly thriving heer since two years ago and my son just entered kindergarden...we made a good decision - the teachers are excellent / dedicated / the PTA / directors are very proactive

my child recieved an amazing special ed experience here. the teachers support staff and administration were part of a team effort. We can't thank or say enough about MPES.

Meadow Pond is great for cookie cutter kids if your child doesn't fit the mold or has special needs it is not the right school. Bullying is a big problem and the principal looks the other way. Be prepared to get lawyers involved if your child is the victim.

This school is GREAT! We have our second child joining this school and we very proud of it!

We have two children in MeadowPond. We moved here from NYC about 4 years ago and could not be happier with the school. From the principal to the after-school staff everyone has been uniformly caring and nurturing. We would have to have paid a ton of money to get the same academics and atmosphere anywhere in the City.

Meadow Pond is one of four elementary schools in the highly regarded Katonah-Lewisboro school district. I think Meadow Pond offers high achieving students and has a very involved community. Curriculum is a little meat and potatoes district wide as it is very much geared to the state tests which culminate in 4th grade but all public schools face mounting pressures to meet expectations of the NCLB act. Meadow Pond and the entire Katonah Lewisboro school district kick up the challenges a notch starting in 5th grade and up and the results are evident upon graduation when most of our graduates matriculate at high end colleges. Meadow Pond and all the elementary schools in the Katonah Lewisboro school district constitute the undiscovered Chappaqua.

This is one of the worse Elemtary Schools in NY. There is no leadership. It is a clicky and fake environment where the unfortunate handful of teachers who care has to deal with the majority who doesn't.
