Wonderful school. Wonderful Christian based atmosphere. The teachers are great and really love all their students. Although I do believe that a student can get a good education in public OR private schools as long as both the child and the parents are involved in the education I still wouldn't want my child to go anywhere else.

My child has endured her first semester at LCA. Endured barely. My child has already been bullied by a student that is on behavior probation and shouldn't even be allowed to stay in this school. Has endured teachers being just plain mean yelling or not helping with questions on a subject saying "Figure it out." For this I'm paying thousands of dollars? We're seriously looking at another school for the remainder of the high school years. What the 2012 graduate posted on Dec. 15 2012 is exactly what we've encountered this year some great teachers some caring administration but definitely a Christian facade and not a "world-class education" at all. Very disappointed at this "Christian" school. It's more like a very expensive public school.
We loved the environment at LCA. The teachers and staff have been incredibly welcoming and helpful. However we were dissapointed in the levels at which the students were learning even at the Pre-K level. LCA has the best of the best in all regards except in providing a challenging scholastic environment for your children. My child basically just did crafts all year and waited for the rest of the class to catch up. No additional work was supplied him and we continued to pay a high rate of tuition throughout the year. As parents we were willing to sacrifice to pay the tuition if the educational challenge was there but sadly it was not. I cannot speak highly enough about the kindess shown by the staff and teachers. We were instantly comfortable and enjoyed a nice quiet drama free year.
Our daughter started LCA when she was 3. Our family thought LCA would be a sweet foundation and planned to transition our daughter to public school starting at Kindergarten. What we discovered after just a couple of years is that we could not imagine our daughter attending any other school than LCA. We fell in love with the teachers the environment and the curriculum. 10 years later we stil feel the same. While at LCA our daughter has taken advanced courses joined the Beta Club participated in band drama dance and cheerleading and experienced her first mission trip. It's rare to find a school that offers a child so many opportunities to explore their interests and talents. We have been blessed by talented caring teachers coaches and youth leaders. We are so thankful we chose to remain with LCA all of these years.
As I watch my children go through college I reflect back on their time and education at LCA. They were academically ready as shown by my oldest child's experience in a college English class. After the first paper was written the professor called my child up to the desk and asked where my child attended high school. When the answer was LCA the professor said "I can tell in your writing it's excellent". Just a small example of the quality education LCA provides not just high school but from preschool - 12th grade. Chapel every week Bible classes every day. Not just the spirit of Christ but also the theology of the Bible. The quality you receive for the money invested is truly a blessing from God.
This school is a blessing! We are new parents at LCA and could not be more impressed. The staff and teachers have been very involved with our son and have worked with us to make sure his transition to LCA was seamless. His teachers have been very responsive to any questions that we have had and the principal is very encouraging and keeps us posted on his progress. Our son enjoys his classes the new academic challenges and the many school activities offered as well. This school is the total package if you are looking for a balance of scripture academics and social opportunities.
LCA has a challenging program that leads to great success. Last year the 100 graduates were offered in excess of $7 million of college scholarships. 100% of the seniors graduate. The preschool program is second to none with an active program leading students toward exploration play and learning. There are IPADS for students beginning in the preschool level! Elementary students have access as well and the school does a great job holding down costs. If you are looking for a caring environment structured around Biblical principles and staffed by a loving staff who will hold your child accountable then check this school out. The results speak for themselves. LCA is a bargain for all that you get in return. It is safe beautifully maintained and carries the mission to Glorify God. It does that well!
I graduated class of 2012. This applies to the high school. The teachers care about the students the Administration cares about appearances. And it is true that people get punished differently depending on who they are. If you send your kid to the high school be prepared to hear complaints from them. Half of the rules are acceptable but the other half are just to make the school look good so you will spend too much money on an education that really isn't "world class". And if you are a parent that is planning on sending your kid because they have gotten into a lot of bad things in public school it isn't going to help. More than half of the students are engaging in sex and other activities that makes Jesus weep. We are just good at hiding it. Actually LCA had a rep and it isn't great. I'm in college and when people find out I went to LCA they say how messed up trashy and snobby the students are. It's true. Not for all but for many. The teachers are really great and your kid will love many of them but the "World Class Christ-Centered Education" is a facade. Save your money for your kid's college tuition not high school.
this school is absolutley horrible. the staff is incredibly biased judgemental and astonishingly hypocritical. sure the classes are advanced and may be a nice challenge for your student. but if you don't want your child's faith shattered by the example of those of the staff who claim to be christians but in reality don't act anything like a christian would save your child an adolescence of torment and send them somewhere else.
If you are looking for a great school look no further. LCA is top notch. My children have been attending since pre-k and are now in 2 and 5th grade. The teachers are very caring and the principals at both the East Campus and Tates Creek campus are wonderful. The teachers really care about the kids. The curriculum is excellent and most important Christian values are taught on a daily basis. Remember no school is perfect. No teacher is perfect. LCA is constantly striving to be better than it already is. I don't foresee it ever becoming stagnant. My children love attending LCA. They love their teachers. We are VERY happy in our choice of school for our children.
Unfortunately if your child is not perfect academically physically and spiritually; it tends to anger the staff. It is also very political. Kids get punished differently depending on who they are. The reason I keep my child in this school is only because it is safer than public. I know I don't have to worry about her when she is there. Christianity goes out the window at about 4th grade. It starts to dwindle then it turns into 'fake' Christianity. It is pretty sad.
My child is completing his second year at LCA. When problems arise they aren't dealt with just 'prayed about' which doesn't bring resolution to the tangible problem at hand. There is little communication with the teacher except when there is an issue that arises. If we bring up an issue we have no idea what was done to address the issue. My son was ahead of his grade level when he entered and is now testing below his grade level. I believe this is due to him not being challenged (since he is still preforming above in other environments) but instead the teacher teaches at the level of the lowest in the class. It is an affordable option to the other private options in Lexington.
Both our kids have beenin lca since first grade one has graduated the other will graduate next year. Top to bottom this school academically outperforms all public schools and all private schools of similar size. (some micro sized private schools are slightly better). Factor in excellent athletic opportunity and you get a well rounded experience. 1-12th grade you won't find a better institution in this state. Financial aid is available on a need based status so dont let someone tell you its all about cash. Is it perfect? No but for its size it is managed and staffed with some really outstanding personnel- character counts at LCA!
We have been so pleased with Lexington Christian and find the teachers extremely supportive and caring. They truly go the extra mile and strive to educate the whole child.
It is without a doubt the best possible school anyone could go to. The positive environment and excellent staff is what makes LCA the perfect school.
Lexington Christian is a great school system. Most parents that come to these sites have a beef. I do not. I love the school and staff. I am thankful every day for the opportunity to send my child to this wonderful educational setting.
My 2 children attended the East Campus of LCA. I can not say enough about this school! The curriculum is excellent. The teachers are beyond caring. Their love for the children in their class is more than obvious. They really go the extra step to ensure that each child suceeded academically. They are more than teachers and students they are family. The school has so many great activites every year. Grandparents Day Pow-wows Thanksgiving dinner Field Day Field Trips I could go on and on. The campus itself is safe and secure. We would still be there if we had not moved. My kids STILL tell me almost a year after we have moved how much they miss 'their school LCA'. We hope to return to Lexington some day and to be able to have our children be part of the LCA family again.
LCA seems to be a hard school academically but I have nothing to compare to. It seems that the older the kids get however the less parental involvement they want and more money! Also as they progress with their 'business' they have gotten many of their priorities out of order. Many people say that in the beginning LCA stood for Lexinton Christian Academy now it stands for Lexington Cash Academy. To sum it up I feel that you are paying mostly for the safety in this school. It is a very sheltered place. Just keep in mind nothing is perfect!
LCA is a great school for environment an average school for academics. Class in HS are not rigorous enough. This is not a school that admits students based on academic excellence so as with public schools classes are taught to the 'average' student. I was amazed how many parents send their kids to LCA paying $6000+ a year and they get C's and D's!
LCA is a good school in so far as it does a good job teaching the fundamentals (reading math). Unfortunately science takes a back seat to creation and other fundamental views of our origins. The school's admissions literature cites the teachings of Jesus Christ but please realize that many teachers are creationists and teach creation as a fact.
