About These Groups

The information in this section was derived from analysis of data (such as age, occupation, and income) from the 2000 U.S. Census. Using segmentation methods, our analysts created groupings based on the demographic and socioeconomic composition of each city and neighborhood.

1. Golden Years

   —Seniors over 65 who live in the city.

   Most own their own home and have a low to moderate income. Most have a high school education or lower, while some have a college education.

2. Multi-lingual Urbanites

   —Urban dwellers who speak more than one language.

   Some have a high school or college education, and they work in a variety of occupations. Moderate to upper-scale earning potential.

3. Aspiring Urbanites

   —Urban singles with moderate income.

   Low- to middle-income singles over a wide age range. Some have a college education. They work in a variety of occupations, including some management-level positions.
