California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Cochran Middle School is a school for everyone...we have students who are English learners gifted special needs. For this reason we have the School for Advanced Studies the AVID Program English Learner programs and Special Education Programs. We have a great staff that supports all these programs. We also have a great after school program as well. I woulk like to see bulletin boards with student work displayed and more mentors and volunteers asissting with tutoring students both before and after school.

Cochran Middle School has seen continuous improvement during the last ten years. A dedicated and hardworking faculty and staff continually ensure that students and families have excellent options for rigorous learning and achievement. The school is not perfect by any means but consistent annual growth makes this a school to watch!

well i believe this school has taught me so much... it taught me that the school does not make the student its the student that makes and tries to be the best. This school may not be the best but it will teach you well

Hey I'm a student at this school and i rate it a 8 because this school has taught me so much. Most student are bad here but they can be smart it's just that they are lazy. Johnnie L. Cochran may not be the best but you can find the best of friends and teachers.

I have a son in the 5th grade and debated if I wanted him to attend this school. I went out of my way to have an open relationship with his teachers and they know that I am more than willing to participate in the needs of my child. I am proud to say he is on the honor roll and doing great. Ms/ Jelloule Ms. Vawter and Mr. Williams made the first year of Middle School a great experience for my son. Thanks so Much!!

I go to the school. It's great. Teachers do care; like Ms.Carter she has tough love. Mr.Mann is super cute too. Ms.Torres is awesome! Funny lady. Well I like this school. Not the best but average.

Prinicpal keeps the school running efficiently but not enough is focused on children'd behavior or curriculum.

I go to this school and it is not that bad if you want to do good and want to succeed. But the only reason why some of the reviews say 'the teachers dont care any more' is beacause us students loose respect . Please do not put the blame on the teachers. Even though some care and some think that they are better than us.

    Motivating principal. Extremely helpful staff

Ms. Torres rocks as a teacher. She is really a hard grader but I have learned a lot. She cares.

this school is the best school and the teachers are really into their job

I feel that the teachers don't care for the students learning like they use too. There is alot of diconnection between the kids and the teachers.

The school is babd but it is not our fault it. Is the teacher. Some of us feel that they dont respect us. Except for ms.Torry she is very helpful

The teachers are not so bad. I found them helpful and concerned about my child. The kids on the other hand... Ms. Lender the dean is wonderful and does her best to do her job with what she has to work with. Over all I would say the school is about average compared to the surrounding schools in the area.

The kids are taking over the school. Most teachers do not help the students. Do not go to this bad school
