I have nieces nephews and younger cousins that go to this school and a few schools around the valley. Nevada is on par with other schools when it comes to teacher quality I've seen better but also worse. However when it comes to the office manager and new principal these are some of the rudest school employees I have encountered at any school. I understand they have a pressured-filled job and sometimes encounter rude parents but they are paid to be professional and should act like it and not make rude remarks towards parents or condescending remarks when the parents leave the office. If the office and admin staff acts like this in front of parents and children how do they behave when no one is around? Sad to see because I do appreciate the teachers at the school.

I have taught with LAUSD for over 20 years. These are some of the most dedicated teachers to the profession that I have ever worked with.

This year will be our last year in this school and my youngest son is in 5th grade. I volunteer as a yearbook editor to inspire other parents and give something meaningful to our children. Giving back is what my family is all about. I was asked by the past principal (Mr. Macpherson) accepted the project because it is in my field of expertise so I accepted to donate to the yearbook project. This year Nevada has a new principal. This principal has been very rude and neglectful in communicating with us parents. I called and left several messages for Maria Valdez and the new Principal to discuss about the 2012-2013 yearbook. I waited and never got a return call so I decided to call again. I finally spoke to Mrs. Valdez. Mrs. Valdez broke the news to me and told me that they will be handing the yearbook project to the teachers this year and I won't be handling it. I was really disappointed and find this communication very unprofessional. I was wondering why couldn't they sit with me and discuss it in professional manner. I left a message in request for the principal and parent conference/meeting. Until now I've never got a call back.

we've started 2 of our children here from K and now they're in 4th and 5th grade. My first impression of this is school was not at a parent expectation. It takes parent involvement to resolve many issues going on in this school. I had issue with their administrative and had complained and discussed many issue with the principal that I was concerned about. I decided to get involve and volunteer some of my time around the school. I must say we have been blessed with some of the teachers here. Mrs. Ajaye Mr. Betancourt Mrs. Bremond Mrs Kerrigan and Mrs. Buitrago was excellent teachers. Except for one that we were not happy with. There are some snobby teachers with bad attitudes. But over all this school had many loving and beautiful families and that's all that matters. The academic score may not be at par but the children are truly loyal to each other and is the true definition of the six pillars of character that are taught here and I pick this over academics. Respect comes before anything #1 rules in life.

Our school community is working very hard to maintain a positive school environment despite the fact our playground is undergoing a long-overdue repaving project. Focus with the students is on Trustworthiness Respect Responsibility Fairness Caring and Citizenship. Students parents and staff are all excited about the new playground which will have a new grass field additional trees and a new play apparatus for the students to play on. This was a long battle to obtain the funds but they finally came through.

I felt like I was dropping my child off at a prison. Horrible! People drive like lunatics almost hitting children being dropped off and no steps are taken to change that. The school is a construction site with trucks dust random workers feet from your children. No diversity in this school. Mrs. Espana is great; principal is a very nice man. Too few opportunities for parental involvement. No enrichment opportunities for kids.

I have 2 children enrolled at Nevada. I went in expecting the worst but have been greatly surprised by this 'little school that could." The teachers are Outstandibng and I have met and frequently interacted with the principal vice principal and parent coordinator. You would be pressed to find a better or more dedicated group of administrators. I can not say enough about the 1st grade teacher Mrs. Espana. So informative and motivational for the children. The office staff work hard ut can be stand-offish. I wish they were less hurried and more approachable- but they gett he job done. Lots of opportunity for parent involvement via workshops fitness club movie nights and child/parent activities. I am so proud to say that my children attend this great school.

We love Nevada Ave. Elementary School because it has the most caring teachers and the most motivated students. We also have a great principal and a wonderful parent center. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and make learning fun! There are always fun events going on at our school and opportunities for parents to get involved. At Nevada Ave. Elementary everyone feels welcome.

Both of my daughters (K & 1st) are currently attending Nevada and so far they are doing pretty well. I just hope that they have extra or special program for them similar to an AP class.

My son has been attending this school for two years. They are very cautious of the kids comin in the gates. They are academically acknowleding the kids swith award cereomonies every month which most schools do not do anymore. Teachers and Staff are very helpful the new principal is doing good. In all I think Neveda is a very good school you parents just have to be there for your kids.

I can't say I was impressed. The teachers don't seem prepared or motivated enough.

This is a terrible school. They push academics which all LAUSD does but this school does it in a horrible way.

This school is academicaly challenged. The staff is not very friendly. When you have questions they answer you with an attitude. They put you off for whatever they're doing. EX The receptionist was at her desk writing something when I walked in. It took her 20 minutes to acknowledge me and still did not help me. The school is overcrowded. I don't like this school one bit.

Very nice school clean facility and classrooms. This school has full day kindergarden programm. Choice of activities. Also has Pre-K programm. Caring teachers friendly office personel to serve your needs. Have choice to buy lunch or to bring from home. Unfortunatelly no open enrollment or permits. After school program available for extra cost. Good playground separate from older kids.

Overall a great school although it could use a bit more outside support (parent volunteers etc.) Excellent principal and they have a great after school program.
