I love OMGC but is not the same. The new principal is not good with kids or us parents. We do have more kids in the school but we have lost more great families last year. Before I would recommend the school but now I just don't say anything the school feels lonely. I may stay here for this year only.

Having experienced public school Our Mother of Good Counsel School is an absolute blessing. My children love this school. It is both academically challenging (utilizing current technology) and spiritually fulfilling. Excellent team of teachers dedicated principal involved parents. It is a little village in the big city. Guided by the kindness of Father Mott. Every student is important here.

We absolutely love this school. It has small classes so our child gets very individualized attention. The teachers are wonderful caring and very educated. Our Principal is new this year and is simply amazing. She is very approachable and you can tell she genuinely cares about the school and the students. The kids have classes other schools don't Music Art Dance P.E. Spanish. They have IPads in the classrooms too! They also have an after school daycare program until 6 00 p.m. which is great! Plus the value is incredible for the brilliant education your child receives. Simply put OMGC School is a hidden gem in Los Feliz we are ecstatic to have found! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!

I have a first grader who started in the kindergarten at OMGC. My four year old will be attending next September. The class size is small and the teachers are amazing. There is a new young principal who has brought a real positive presence to the school. Alumni excel at the top high schools in the city. I am confident that my child is getting a top notch education at a reasonable price.

My child has grown spiritually and has established great friendships. The parents are helpful and volunteer many hours. The children are bright and ready to learn. Meeting the new principal gives HOPE that the school will once again return to its glory!!

Excellent academic program as well as religious program.

What a difference! Parents can now check grades online and access teacher websites for homework and news. This is great - especially when my 8th grade student is preparing for high school! The school year is off to a GREAT start!

The intimacy of a private education combined with the advantages of a good Catholic education. Computer Lab Spanish classes music art sports gymnasium. A great value for the neighborhood.

As a parent with children that attended OMGC for several years I can say that I saw many problems. The teacher turnover is extremely high and parents are not given information whether the teachers have their full accreditation although they all seem to be working on getting their teaching license. The principal is strong some say too strong. In my experience I found her to be lacking in personality and warmth - she rarely engages with the parents unless there is a problem and you present yourself in her office. The academic program can be challenging for some of the younger grades but after fifth grade there is a large amount of disorganization and work that does not relate to the curriculum. If the parish and school worked together this might be a great school but for now this is an average school.

As an alum I was delighted to have the opportunity to send my children to OMGC School. My children were challenged mentally physically aesthetically and grew spiritually while we supported the school and parish wholeheartedly. The excellent traditions I experienced as a child were enjoyed by my children; and it is my hope that their children will enjoy the same.

I am confused. Why are there so many excellent reviews on this site but so many unhappy families at OMGC? Am I missing something? This school loses a handful of families every year - why?

I have taught at this school for many years. The children are bright and eager to learn. The parents are helpful and volunteer endless hours. The principal is a bully and should retire. I cannot recommend this school to prospective parents until the principal leaves - I just hope she does not drive this school into the ground. Based on the school review guidelines I can only give a rating of one star. We are in a sad situation .

Intimate classroom setting and personal attention equals academic success and high confidence. We are just finishing up our first year at OMGC and are very happy with our son's experience. He has made many friends loves his Kindergarten teacher and is eager to learn and explore.

What a Gem! We looked at so many schools and are very happy with our choice. Our son is in kindergarten and is flourishing. It is wonderful to see so many programs offered from Spanish music art to computers at a very reasonable tuition (less than $500 a month). I especially like the small class size.

My description of Our Mother of Good Counsel can only be written by someone who has been there sine she was in Kindergarten. Next year I'll be in 8th grade. I will be filled with the excitement of entering high school. But I will also be filled with the sadness of departing the long hallways of my beloved school. OMGC holds many memories that have happened since I first stepped foot there. Enroll your child. Let he or she experience the academic achievement the slam dunks and the spiritual gratification that students like me have experienced. Can I get an AMEN?

We have two kids at this school who are enjoying their time because of the friendly environment and good education. We do not live in the area and the school is not exactly on the way to work but since our kids are flourishing we decided to make the sacrifice of allowing them to continue going to OMGC. Although our daughter will be graduating in one year we will keep our 5th grade son at OMGC until he finish 8th grade.

Our Mother of Good Counsel is the missing link for the Silverlake/ Los Feliz area. The classes are small and the price is less than half of other private schools. We are not catholic and were worried about this at first but have found many other non catholic families in addition to other practicing religions at the school. .The children enjoy at least one class per week of Spanish dance music and art. It is a very academic school yet I nearly overlooked it being focused on API scores. Catholic schools test on more subjects than LAUSD and do not use API scores so there is no fair comparison. The younger students have a chance to develop bonds with older students in this quaint school because it does go to grade 8.

We just started our 9th year at OMGC and our children have flourished. The 'kindness' of the student body is remarkable and was noted by an accreditation review. This circumstance is not an accident. It is the direct result of unique and long standing traditions such as morning assembly and parental access. Recently a new member of our community asked her 6th grader about her new class and the 'bad words'. The child responded 'there aren't any'... Any school has its strife and we have our share but I can say with conviction that my kids are kinder people because our relationship with Our Mother of Good Counsel If you are interested in our school I suggest you join us at 8 00 AM any morning.

This is the first elementary school I attended as a child and the education and moral guidance I received was vastly superior to that of my friends who attended other schools. Subsequently I enjoyed a straight-A scholastic career all the way through college. I also remain a practicing Catholic and I would definitely send my own child to Our Mother of Good Counsel. This is one of the finest schools in Southern California.

I chose this school based the current principal and academics. Thought a catholic school would teach and instill morals conduct and academics but big changes happened. The PTO is involved but limited by approv. of Prin. Priest too involved in academic matters.
