California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Patrick Henry Middle school has a great Magnet Program. The teachers and Magnet coordinator are amazing. Our son is in the Honors program. He is challenged academically but not overwhelmed with homework. The school provides a safe environment peer counseling and tutoring during school as well as after school. We love the school.

A nice small school with caring teachers. My son is a student in the magnet which has a challenging curriculum with Honors classes in all core subjects. They have great computer classes and their Instruction & Enrichment class is a wonderful program to help all kids succeed and still allow for the bright kids to have their needs met as well. It is a safe school and my son enjoys being a student at Patrick Henry.

Patrick Henry Math Science Technology Magnet. The best group of teachers I have ever worked with. High Expectations of students motivating challenging and nurturing. Most of all they are committed to the success of every student in their class. They work as a team sharing ideas and problem solving with each other. A great group to work with and fantastic program for children who like to be challanged.

Love the great attitude present on campus! Parent participation was requested last spring and continues now with new dress code and spirit shirts sending the message that SUCCESS STARTS HERE!!! Join us for an information night on October 17th at 6pm in Independence Hall. The Math Science Technology magnet is fantastic. Let your child be one of the lucky kids who can join a program with a 896 API great computer lab engaging teachers and families who support the school. ***** A new survey released by the National Association of Colleges and Employers says STEM majors -- that s science technology engineering and mathematics -- earn the highest starting salaries when compared to their peers in the liberal arts and business majors.**** Start your child's academic success at Patrick Henry's Magnet. Tours Oct 8 10 15 22 24 29 and Nov 6th at 8 30 am to 9 30 am. Our family could NOT be happier that we discovered the great teachers and program here in little old Granada Hills neighborhood school.

This is my daughter's first year at PHMS she loves it. Magnet program is wonderful. Teachers are great. The principal walks around and interacts with the students during nutrition and lunch. Made a wiae choice by sending my daughter to that school.

My husband and I feel very fortunate to have found Patrick Henry Magnet. The academic program is amazing and challenges our daughter. The magnet program provides hands-on science labs engaging projects and an incredible technology program. The teachers really prepare students with the necessary skills to be successful in high school and beyond. The teachers do an outstanding job at keeping parents informed about their child's academic progress through Edline. Great program!

Wonderful middle school in the north San Fernando Valley. Many other parents looking at Nobel but I found them to be very crowded and was concerned about him just being a number there. I have found my son get more individualized attention at Henry than he would have at Nobel. They have several programs to make the campus safe and as a parent that is always a concern. Academically my son is doing well and loves his teachers. API for the school is over 800 and half the size of Nobel. I am very very pleased. I find the staff to be very caring and compassionate. So glad I made this choice.

Patrick Henry Middle School is a small campus in Granada Hills where students learn and excel in an enriching environment. While often overlooked for nearby middle school campuses Patrick Henry stays focused on ensuring each child receives a top quality education develops skills to carry them through high school graduation and then college and learns how to be a good citizen of a school community and the world at large. The staff and faculty make me feel welcome on campus ensure my child receives all the support needed to succeed and puts students' safety and well-being first. I am proud that my child attend Patrick Henry Middle School.

Great school. Keeps me motivated and the teachers really care about students. They have a lot of extra classes like learning the ukelele drawing ect.. The only down side is that there is a little of bullying. There is a lot of 'cool kids' and such. A lot of cussing. Without bullying this school would be 5 stars! I Recomend this school though.

Awesome school with excellent magnet program. Principal coordinator and teachers are a really great working team. My son graduated on 2010 and he was so prepared for high school advance program. I really thank PHMS and I can't wait for my other son to start his beautiful challenge there in 2013!! And don't forget a great parent looks for a great challenging school.

as long as your an involved parent this school is great. Whenever I needed to talk to someone weather a teacher or prinicple I never had a problem. Everyone is very helpful. I have had two children graduate within the last few years and can't say enough about this school

The school isn't great but it isn't bad either. It's pretty average its a cool place. One thing I must say though is that it's Math/Science/ Technology program is outstanding! One of the best in LAUSD. In this school you will find the best state of the art technology/computers with a great teacher. The only letdown is it's lame english/history classes. Almost no funding is put in to those classes. It has the highest fitness test scores than ANY other school in LAUSD. It's a pretty good choice of a school to send your child. Oh by the way if you're someone who's isnsipid and really cares aout the 'looks' of a school patrick henry is not the school to go to. It's pretty ugly haha.

To Whom it may concern regarding the Patrick Henery Middle School soccer games on the weekends (Saturdays & Sundays) Myself And several other residents have personally attempted to contact Principal Bennet by telephone And Principal Bennet had hung up on me on several occassions. The instances where Principal Bennet did not hang up the telephone in mid conversation Principal Bennet was extremely condescending and dismissive. The soccer playing itself has a very high decibel lever between the screaming And profanity. It starts early in the morning both Satuday & Sunday. Combined with the unsavory element that the soccer playing attracts on the street side of the fence that directly & specifically effects the residents of the area. The activities that take place are The illegal consumption of alchoholic beverges Littering Loitering Urination Profanity illegal drug use / consumption Speeding loud offensive stereo car equptment. After having spoken to several residents all of whom concur that collectively the abuse has reached intollerable levels.
