We came from a private school to Rosewood in 2nd grade. Rosewood has comparable academic curriculum w/the added benefit of allowing a child who thinks outside of the box to be praised instead of punished. My son is thriving at Rosewood. His teachers have approached him as a "whole" person. The student body is diverse ethnically and economically just like the real world...which is the world I am raising my son to become a part of. There are rigorous & stable standards for behavior at Rosewood providing a sense of safety and equality. It has the "small" school feel & the principal knows all the children's names. She is a constant presence on the playground at drop-off & pick-up times. My son treasures Rosewood's school's motto - "Be Safe Be Respectful Be Responsible". There is a "Random Acts of Kindness" award as well as a "Student of the Week" award...Such a balanced whole child approach. There is also music art dance all day library with a full-time librarian after school enrichment classes & many field trips! There is an active Parent Center for daily volunteering. Rosewood is a gem & I am so grateful to have found it!

This school has dedicated teachers whose passion is teaching. There are various enrichment programs at this school music art dance computers etc. Afterschool enrichment classes offered by ARC include Basketball Tennis Dino-Robotics Age of Robotics Reptacular Animals Soccer Photography and Jazz. In addition GATE & SAS enrichment classes are offered. The School was adopted by Adopt the Arts which funded keyboards drums guitars for the music program. Afterschool theatre is offered culminating in a production. This year they put on "Frozen".

Overall our daughter is getting a well-rounded education at Rosewood Avenue Elementary School with the music physical education computer lab technology and library resources offered to her kindergarten class. Currently the school is adding a science garden on campus to make learning science more real and fun. The teacher seems to care about the student's progress and safety. She is teaching the children how to read and write using the proper punctuation and asking them to write how to stories. We are proud of our daughter's academic progress. She is reading to her little brother now. Our daughter is more confident and happy to go to school which makes us happy too.

My children LOVE Rosewood!! I appreciate the small size of the student body - everyone knows one another so it feels like a close knit family on campus. Teachers and faculty are hands on and unbelievably dedicated. My children are academically challenged. Rosewood is TRULY diverse. I wish it offered more art but there are occasional after school enrichment classes that make up for it. All around well rounded public school... a hidden jem amongst public schools in Los Angeles.

This school deserves a much higher rating! I considered sending my son to a private school but am so happy I decided to try Rosewood. The education rivals that of the best schools. His teacher is warm supportive inclusive available and a wonderful educator. The principal Mrs. Crowder is phenomenal. She knows the name of every student and is always available to them (and to the parents). I know few people more dedicated to their jobs and she works incredibly hard for the betterment of the school and its students. Mrs. Crowder even goes to all the same trainings she requires of her teachers. For a public school Rosewood has an impressive array of enrichments including PE art music dance computer lab and outdoor garden. The extra-curricular activities are likewise broad from sports to robotics to drama/school musical. This is a truly diverse school both racially and socio-economically which for us was a real plus. My son loves going school which is the best test of all.

We have finished two years at Rosewood and absolutely love the school. The Principal and Teachers are amazing it s a great environment with a lot of programs for the kids. It all starts with Prinicipal Crowder who is spectacular. She is always available to the kids and to parents for any issue. We have met with her several times and always been given terrific advice we have really come to depend on her. At the volunteer cleanup events she arrives first leaves last and works harder than anyone else. We have had terrific teachers as well every teacher we have had was caring but demanding and our son has loved each teacher he has had. The school has a great atmosphere and the entire focus on learning and self-improvement. We looked at every public and private school in the area and chose Rosewood. We are so glad we did.

I am amazed at how much my child has learned from the beginning of the school year. The Kindergarten teachers are both terrific teachers. They are respected and adored very much by their students. Upon entering the school there is a very friendly safe and warm feeling one senses. The office staff are always very cheerful and helpful. The students at Rosewood even look happy when you pass them in the hallways. Mrs. Crowder the principal truly cares about each of her students and goes above and beyond her duties for her students. Mrs. Crowder is amazing she greets every student who arrives in the carpool line with a smile which makes kids feel welcomed and ready to start their day. There is an amazing music program with a truly fabulous teacher. All the students in the school participated in 2 music shows during the year which were awesome. We also have a beautiful garden the students have enjoyed creating and wonderful parent volunteers assisting them. My child is lucky to have this wonderful school in our neighborhood.

My daughter is just finishing kindergarten here and we've had an amazing year she absolutely loves her school. Yes maybe I'm guilty of looking at the API scores in the past but I realized through the year that this number does not define my school. Our teachers have implemented the Common Core Standards of teaching instead of teaching our kids how to do well on a test. This school offers balance my kindergartener is reading and writing sentences knew her 1st grade sight words by the middle of the year and we've got a morning mile club dance classes P.E. Art classes plays and more. We've have made amazing friends in the year we've been here. If your looking for a school with down to earth parents teachers and principal with a can do attitude then this is the place for you. The Principal and Teachers are approachable and easy to talk to. Mrs. Crowder knows every child's name and is a permanent fixture at the gate every single morning during drop off. The office staff is full of sweet heart too! This school is a hidden gem. Parent involvement is also the key to a child's success and through the Friends of Rosewood committee there are always ways to get involved.

As we are about to finish up our first year at Rosewood I felt it was time to write my review. I've been so happy with our experience at this school. We toured many other schools in and out of the neighborhood before sticking with our home school Rosewood. In the end I was most comfortable and excited about Rosewood after touring it. After nearly a year there with 2 children enrolled I'm thrilled we made the decision to go. Being able to walk our children to school everyday is so cool and such a plus. I can't say enough about our Principle Mrs. Crowder. She knows all the kids by name and basically lives at that school! She is dedicated caring and very accessible. With all the budget cuts in LASUD I was thrilled this year when my kids had PE Art class Music class and a reading buddy program. There is also a twice a year music performance that was wonderful to see. There was even a school musical! Throughout the year there have also been many fun events to attend such as Fall Festival and Outdoor Movie Night. But THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to me is the fact that my kids LOVE going to school in the morning. They never want to miss a day. That has said it all to me.

Ok... If you are here and reading reviews you are looking at schools for your little one(s). This is a big deal. Rosewood is THE BEST SCHOOL!!! I'm a single mom and I am incredibly protective of my girls and where they spend their time and who influences them. Rosewood has been one of the best things to every happen to them. The school is small enough for kids not to get lost in the flow. The staff is lead by a very open and student focused Principal. I have watched the campus change since Mrs Chowder became the principal and the spirit of the school has really come together in a great way. Be respectful Be responsible and make good choice... the words of the Huskey's. And the teachers are balanced between meeting state standards but also seeing the children and their real world needs when it come to learning. Both my daughters formed their foundations at this school and I could not be prouder of them. Go to an open house to get a feel for the school yourself. As a friend as a mom as a parent... I want to sincerely tell you this is a school you can feel good about. Your children will thrive learn have fun and make great memories at Rosewood. This is a 10+ school. Go Huskey's

Rosewood Avenue Elementary values each and every one of its students and families. It is a safe caring and nurturing environment that focuses on the educational needs of all our students. Rosewood's highly qualified teachers along with its support staff are constantly in communication to ensure that these needs are met or exceeded. It is both an honor and pleasure to be part of Rosewood's phenomenal team. We are also all very excited for the launch of our new school's website. Go Huskies!

The teachers and staff members are not supportive to your child's needs. There are some great teachers yet some horrible teachers that makes the curriculum and education very unstable. I do not recommend risking your child's education.

Rosewood is amazing! The teachers and staff are wonderfully dedicated to our children and the administration is constantly exploring new ways to materially enhance the learning environment through pilot programs and third-party participation. We a parents always feel welcome and encouraged to participate in the school.
