My boys are freshman in The Global Language Magnet. They are loving it. The teachers have been amazing. The Magnet Office - Ms Markussen and Ms Roche Blair are supportive helpful and knowledgeable. My boys play waterpolo and are enjoying that too. They are getting a well rounded education. We are very happy to be a Venice and a part of the Global Language Magnet.

So far so good! Our child is a freshman in the Global Languages magnet. All but one teacher seems fantastic and the remaining is improving. Swim team is a wonderful community-spirited environment. There are an impressive number of awfully nice kids attending this school such a lovely supportive community. These kids and these teachers really really leave me feeling impressed. All the teachers we've seen so far are dedicated to developing broad-ranging thoughtful curricula relevant to the world at large as well as the subject's technical academic specifics. But we always figured this local school just down the road was a hidden treasure. What a great place. We feel lucky to live in the neighborhood.

Both my children attend Venice High School and we are very happy. The Magnet program is a very competitive course of study that is preparing them well for a college experience. The people and friends made are great involved and caring. I can't give Venice enough kudos! Go Gondos!

Our 3rd out of 3 children just recently graduated. All three children had positive experiences. They were enrolled in the Foreign Language magnet and participated in sports music service organizations and clubs. Our kids got involved and really felt like they were a part of the community being in their local public high school. Each child attended a UC after high school.

I am a current graduate (Class of 2012) from Venice High School and I had a great experience as a student there. One word that describes this school is diverse. Students are of various ethnici backgrounds and have a wide range of interests. Most interact well with others so there aren't any "cliques" like how high school is unfortunately perceived in movies. I also had very helpful teachers and amazing friends whom I will never forget! In addition Venice offers a variety of extracurricular activities and sports which students come to enjoy very much. Most of the sport teams such as football and volleyball are very competitive. The school also has a high quality student-run newspaper and a great music program (both of which I was part of). Several AP classes are offered in preparation for colleges and universities. I know many students there who have been accepted to excellent colleges such as Berkeley and Yale. Overall Venice High School (in my perspective) has a nice "movie-like" campus without the movie ideals (cliques fancy campus food etc.). I definitely learned a lot from this school itself along with MOST of the academics.

Congratulations to Venice HS's Super Shop 9 graphic communications students for winning 1st place in the 2012 PIASC Graphics Academic Challenge. For their efforts the graphic communications department received $5000 worth of Apple computer equipment and the winning student received a $1000 college scholarship.

I am the parent of a graduating senior from the Community School. He has received an excellent education has made wonderful friends has been able to compete in two varsity sports and other extracurricular activities. He has been accepted at the college of his choice one of (if not the) most selective public undergraduate business schools in California Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I don't thnk he could have received a better overall educational experience period. My other child is in the Magnet program. Both are great. You don't have to be in the Magnet to get a great education at Venice. The Community School is developing some very interesting programs especially in Science Engineering and Technology.

As a Professor of Education in the Los Angeles area that has provided consulting services to schools over the last 15 years I can objectively share that I am more than satisfied with the comprehensive experience my daughter has received at VHS Magnet. I have found the staff to be courteous and professional the teachers engaged and caring and the programs offered to be relevant. The principal has been refreshingly available. The counselor and Magnet coordinator are spectacular- responsive professional...I have a sophomore at the magnet and an incoming freshman next year. I am sending my children there because kids go to great schools from the magnet (Columbia Occidental Berkeley UCLA USC this year) and because they get to have a comprehensive high school experience. The school is safe and engaging and diverse. Who wouldn't want their child in a school that prepares kids for college and offers a wealth of programs. Venice High School is a wonderful place. We are very happy there.

My daughter is a junior in the Foreign Language Magnet. She loves Venice and is getting an excellent education. The classes are challenging the teachers are wonderful and the students are smart academically driven friendly and interested in the world around them. I was told before my daughter started that Venice kids naturally build friendships across racial and ethnic lines (whereas at some schools they tend to self-segregate) and that has been my daughter's experience. Kids who can handle the workload of honors and AP classes should consider Venice.

I could really use some current reviews for Venice High School as I am considering enrolling my granddaughter there for the 2011-2012 school year. Thank you

The Magnet teachers are great and do care about the kids. But the classes are getting bigger. They could use a few more assistants. Many of the good ones have retired.

The Foreign Language Magnet at Venice High is an outstanding college preparatory program. It has good teachers and high standards. Venice High also has a New Media Academy many language offerings many art offerings. There is a commitment among the faculty to actively reach out to students to help them.

It's a great school! It provides so many programs that other schools don't

Venice has something for everyone. The student just needs to get involved. Teachers counselors etc. could do more to motivate participation - but parents should be encouraging as well. Busy students are the best kind.

My daughter a Venice High graduate is now completing her junior year at Stanford! She was well prepared and will be receiving an academic award next month. Venice also allowed her to enjoy participating in fall plays and spring musicals. So this month she performs in Stanford's musical 'Aida'. She keeps in contact with many of her high school friends and they still get together to visit Venice teachers. She is a product of LAUSD and I am grateful to all her teachers K through 12.

This school is the one of the best high school in westside.. This year many students were accepted to the UCs and other private university. They offer many AP courses. The student can move their GPA higher. I was very happy I sent my son to VHS. Only one concern most of the good teachers are almost time to retire???

The Foreign Language Magnet at Venice is phenomenal. I was so impressed by ALL of my son's teachers on Back to School Night. I am also impressed by the principal. You can't really know a school unless you take the time to take a look. Come see Venice High. You will be pleasantly surprised!
