California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

My son goes to Vista Middle School. This school is geared for those why do care about their child education. The teachers are lazy. I asked all my sons teachers to sign a contract stating that we would work s a team to a sure my child gets the proper education. NONE OF THE TEACHERS did their part. I found some of the teachers to be raciest. Last year my son had a teacher that was talking about him in Spanish not knowing that my son is fluent in Spanish. I hate this school. My child has changed as a person since he has been in this school. IT"S ALL AROUND BAD!!!!!!! Any one that feels that this is a good school dont care about their child's education.

I am crrently a high school student but my experience at vista middle school was really good. The teachers wer great they found a way to work with each individual student because they know that every student is unique and should be treated as corresponded. There were a lot of problems with fights and gang related things but if you would just avoid all that you would be able to do really good I had straight A's and was still involved in many different extra curricular activities. I highly recommend this school. LEGENDARIES #1 CLASS OF 09

Vista is one of the best middle schools in Los Angeles. The students are great and interested in learning the teachers are dedicated and the staff is above average! I would highly recommend this school to any parent.

I graduated last year from this school. In my experience because I was in an honors class it was a little above average when it comes to teaching. Because I was in honors I actually learned something. Overall the school is oay. They need to enforce education a lot better.

Vista has a lot of students the education isn't as good as other schools but it's still a nice school. Teachers have great ways of teaching the students. I hope this school will improve as the years go by.

The worst school in the world! my daughter goes to this school and she learns nothing. She was so bored she was getting straight f's. When I pulled her out she started getting a's at sepulveda middle school.

Im going into eighth grade in September. And I really wish that our teachers would improve. The only good thing really 'taught' at my school is Physical Education. And honestly I dont think I'm gonna need to know how to run a mile in 16 minutes when im older. The teachers give us way to much homework. And expect way to much from us. And I do understand that they're just trying to prepare us for the future but sometimes there is something called too much. But this is only my opinion. In simplier words 'Unsatisfactory Education Great P.E. Too Much Work'

I a seventh grader going to eight grade on June but I think this school is beautiful and the teachers are spectacular but the education is poor and its full of kids that don't care its in a bad area. And there is lots of fights because of gangs and nonsense like that kids learn in fear because their worried to get beat up and stuff. Its not a good learning environment! And now all I have to say is parents put ur kids in this school at ur own risk! no kidding!

My son goes to Vista Middle School and I think it is great the teachers there are fair and they don't give to much homework so your children can have more time to spend time with the family or just to have a little break from school. At Vista the physical Education is one of the best in the valley. I recommend Vista Middle school for your child if you are looking for a great education.

It is a great school I would recomend it to anyone that is willing to give their children a great education all the teachers are amazing and great to each and every one of their students!

This School is still a work in progress. The staff is not quite settled. The newness of the atmosphere has not created a stable philosophy at the school yet. East Valley is located in a blue collar neighborhood with many recent immigrants; amd the schools employs many recently certified teachers. API is low but as the school aquires more stability and the staff matures test scores will grow in the future.
