The 6/19 review was likely for the LAUSD Woodcrest this private school is very well secured. So 2 months of constant GreatSchools.org surfing and school tours ended today. We love charters but explored the private sector in case we weren't lucky enough to be randomly selected to a favorite. We toured Woodcrest today and the thrill of the hunt was over. I had wondered what a private school could offer over some of my favorite tuition-free charters. What they offer at Woodcrest was too valuable to overlook the tuition reasonable. They assessed my son and we enrolled for Kindergarten today. The small teacher/student ratio along with many parent volunteers make the environment very personal. In Kinder children were working in rotations of only 3 groups of 4 in a quiet room with a parent a teacher or computers. I had worried about my bright but over-energetic son trying to focus in a kindergarten class of even 20. 3 recesses and every day they have an hour of either PE Dance or Swimming in their Olympic sized pool. Technology was being used at every turn and the special science and art programs for 1-5 kids were OUTSTANDING! My son is over the moon excited!

I am so pleased with the changes the school has made over the past year. The school added an IPAD program a robotics program a laptop program and hired new staff including a full time PE teacher and technology director. The school has also reached out to parents to form an advisory board to help with making impactful changes that will positively enhance my child's experience going forward. It is nice to see that the school is spending more money and energy on what matters most teachers and curriculum.
My daughter just finished kindergarten in Woodcrest. The teachers are excellent especially the class teacher my daughter had. They know in their hearts about the characters of each student. When I asked the teacher how my daughter acted about some inciddent she could immediately described in detail which I also observe similar behavior at home too. I am not sure about preschool part since there is another director. but this page is to rank the elementary school. for the elementary part it is absolutely excellent!!! and I see they keep improving.
AWFULL SCHOOL ALL AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No security on campus. I wish I could say something good about this school. If you care about the education this is not the place.
This school is just wonderful. Everyone at Woodcrest is dedicated and kind. The school provides strong academics as well as classes in the arts. The staff is exceptionally well qualified many have been at Woodcrest for decades. Every teacher knows every child no matter the grade. The premises is always clean and safe and strict rules of conduct are enforced. My child has flourished at this school and I am so sad to leave this spring but I know that he has been expertly and lovingly prepared for middle school
What an amazing school year! Woodcrest is an excellent elementary school with the most caring and dedicated staff. This weekend's Science Fair was just one more reason why I know that my child is getting the very best in education. Kudos to the principal and her teachers )
Woodcrest is an amazing school and an amazing community of students teachers staff and parents who care about each other and know each other by name. Woodcrest has provided a safe and fun place for my son to learn and a foundation for the love of learning.
The best private school! The staff and teachers are beyond amazing! Strong academics and hands on programs. Your children will be loved and safe in this school. Both my children have been going to Woodcrest since preschool and my daughter is attending her last year and I'm so sad to be leaving the Woodcrest family!
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Thus far one graduated and two more to go. This is the best school and very affordable for a private school
Woodcrest is great school. Teacher student ratio is 1 17 on average. The teacher is able to cater each kids needs on their academic level. Overall the staff are caring friendly and they are always available to answer questions. Academic program is excellent. After school programs are great. My kid never come home and said he's bored at school.
We really love this school. They have a great curriculum and the kids learned so many things. The teachers & the director (Ms. Melody) are very friendly. There's nothing compare to this school. They are top notch! Too bad we moved to different city and need to commute for 1 hr if it's not I wouldn't enroll my daughter to other school than woodcrest. We miss woodcrest so much.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful this school is! The teachers love the children. There is one drawback and that is the parking lot situation. It can be hectic and trying. Other than that it is making my child very happy.
Great school! We are very happy at Woodcrest! They offer so much more than the public schools including specialist teachers in Spanish computers art and science. Classes are small and each child is given work at the level they are at. They even have a gifted program. What more could you ask for?
This school is an excellent academic facility. The teachers are fantastic and the staff is so caring. I highly recommend Woodcrest Elementary!
My daughter has just completed her first term here after attending an awful school charging triple the fees. The level of encouragement she is given is fantastic her work has come on at an exceptional rate and she is thoroughly enjoying being in the school environment. Children in the class are working at different levels depending on their individual needs. Homework is given every night and high expectations are held by the teachers. All staff from the principle administrator and after school care staff are enthusiastic and always pleased to see the children. I would highly recommend them.
My son began there for summer camp and stays for preschool. I love that school and i am very confortable and happy with my son there. All the teachers are very careful with all children.
Woodcrest really is a very good school. The teachers care about the children and whether they are learning or not and the cirriculum is ahead of the public schools. It is a smaller school which also makes a huge difference in the attention the students get and the principal makes it her job to know each student and who he or she is.
this is the best thing that happened to our family. the facuty care about all of their students. the principal as was said before is a part of the kids' world but also mine. i consider her a friend too. this is the best school around.
This is a school with a family environment that has a top notch curriculum. Collaborative learning is encouraged in the classroom as long as independent. With the small classroom the child gets individual attention tailored to his/her needs. The principal and staff make everyone feel welcome and the parents are involved. Woodcrest being a small school my child is involved and knows staff and students personally. She loves going to school. The children also learn about character education emphasizing empathy impulse control peer pressure etc. I would highly recommend this school. The principal is not only amazing but she is a friend. The only drawback is the parking lot.
Best investment you can make in your child's future. So reasonably priced considering the excellent education my daughter gets. Looking forward to my younger daughter starting there in the fall. Excellent staff and principal!
