Im currently a student at arroyo high and I honestly hate it. The only reason i'm even at the school is because I haven't moved yet. Almost all of my teachers are so lazy and play online games while im trying to figure out how to do things its just so ridiculous and unnecessary. All the athletes get so much special treatment they pass classes with doing little to no work at all they always get priority for everything! Thanks to this school I am now 100 credits behind and I am a sophomore. If you're planning on moving here or thinking of going to this school don't its not worth it. Moving to el monte is a bad idea period. If you can afford to live in el monte go to la Habra or west Covina even la Habra has blue ribbon schools and loads of cheap very nice newly renovated apartments same with west Covina. If you're reading tis please take my advice I attend this school I know what i'm talking about it's totally not worth al the trouble and frustration when there's better places out there.
Let me tell you that I want to transfer out of this school. Again. I went to this school for my ninth and tenth grade years but after failing algebra 1 two years in a row you know it's the teachers and not you who is to blame. Most of the teachers here are lazy and won't even bother to do their job which is to teach granted there are a few teachers who actually could teach and well. There are also a few teachers who don't speak English; another reason for many students failing classes. I went to gabrielino high school my junior year and loved the teachers but I had no friends and I didn't want to graduate with a bunch of strangers. My mother and I decided to move back in the El Monte area and as of right now I am a senior currently attending arroyo and the classes are already filled up. So much for seniors having first choice in picking classes. I might not even graduate. Don't go to this school. Terrible administrators . I know from experience.
School is pretty fun but some of the teachers I had were lazy so that made me ended up with terrible grades. The best thing about this school is the clubs and band. I had lots of fun when I joined Key club with my friends. the worst part about this school is some of the students behavior they would get in fights or start many other problems for other students.
Mr. Richarson was in the high school talent show as one of the Supremes. He was so funny as Diana Ross. Does anyone remember??In 1997.
The teachers are good and there are many activities to do but the campus is small. I transferred to Arroyo for my second year of high school. One thing I dislike is how crowded the hallways can be and how you must sit in specified areas during lunch.
i love this school it is the best. it has alot of things to help you.
i love arroyo high school!!!! i went to this school for the first semester and it was WAY better than i expected.
i am a junior at arroyo right now and i have to say i really like it. all but one of my teachers are great. they are all amazing teachers. arroyo offers a program called AVID and i have been taking this class since 7th grade. the main focus of AVID is to help prepare you for college. we get tutored twice a week my college students. arroyo offers many sports clubs and electives.
This is a amazing school.A very great learning system. Also they have very get sport teams.I should know I am in soccer right now.We never give up athleticly and educationly.
I currently attend Arroyo and I follow the footsteps of 3 older siblings. I will be a sophomore this year and I have nothing but positive remarks about Arroyo. All the teachers are kind and attentive. If there is a problem that a student is having the staff kindly takes time out of their schedule to stay after school for some extra tutoring. There isn't a single problem that isn't addressed whether it be lack of money for school supplies or a waste of water at lunch. Arroyo puts it's students first and that is what makes it special. The curriculum not the campus or the extra activities is top priority. Their food is actually good not that nasty sloppy joe stuff that get shipped to the schools but we recieve food hot and delicious. So with this review you can see why I have grown a certain love for
I attended as a student and now have 3 kids there. Two of them recently graduated. We have been through many teachers there and a few of them are the unforgettable kind but then on the other hand they do have some who aren't very well in their career of choice. Usually the school is wonderful they have tons of ways to get involved and always have activities going on for the kids. But more than necessary a scandal occurs wether with a teacher two teachers or even a teacher and a student.
well i go to arroyo and as far as teaching goes arroyo is up there in the top. although there are a few mishaps about the campus overall it is a very good place to go to every morning at 7 56 am. i think if you wanna go to college in the nearby future arroyo is the school to go to.
My son will be in 9th grade this year (2007-2008) and prior to enrolling him we visited the campus serveral times to ensure our son would be exposed to top education and that he would also have great choices for extra curricular activities as well. We met with the principal and a number of the teachers as well as some of the current students. I have nothing but high marks for the excellent leadership of the Principal (Mr. Richardson) and his staff are very professional well informed and the school's test scores and graduating class ratios tell the story that the students are getting a top notch educational experience. (over 90% graduates go on to college - that's excellent!)
All the programs in arroyo are great. I greatly enjoy the how they make the students there look forward to college. Many of the counselors have weekly meeting with some students to help them prepare for college. I think arroyo high school is a great high school for a student who has high hopes for entering collage and succeeding in life./
Nice teacher great school!
An excellent school is simply being mismanaged and I question whether to send my children to this school because of it.
Leadership starts at the top with the principal. A better choice should have been made. Politics has a tendency of clouding ones better judgment when such important positions are filled. It's a shame because the students at this school come from varying backgrounds but still respond like one big happy family.
As a parent of three I'd have to say that the APPEARANCE of this school is very different from the disorganization inside. The principals don't take responsibility to see that anything gets done---wave a sparkly thing in front of them and they forget their jobs. Kids don't come first--even kids grades don't come first with teachers apparently assigned to teach at random. The principal is very unstable--changing his mind all the time and won't go to bat for any student or group--even academic groups.
Arroyo Hoigh School is a good school. My oldest daughter attends thier and is going to be a senior. We have had no problems with the school with the three years she has been there. The teachers are great with a few exceptions but over all are dedicated to the pupils. My daughter was in a club and was able to travel all over europe. her club advisor Mrs. Hunter was amazing she wouldnt take no for an answer and pushed her to rais enough money so she could go.
