I love the traditional program. We switched our 3 kids from a private parochial school to Greathouse and Barret TMS last year; it's been a great decision for us. Now my daughter is a freshman at Male and is taking AP Human Geography Geometry Latin etc. and is very challenged. The rules and dress code help make it a great environment. I am very pleased with Louisville Male High School.

I hate this school . Teachers make you feel stupid if you say something or do something wrong in front of your class and laugh at you.
Male High is a wonderful school. It would be something if all schools were like this one.
i went to male my freshman year and thought it was a good school until May came along. My science and Algebra 1 teachers didnt not prepare me and many other students for their finals and we wound up flunking out because of it. Don't get me wrong the school spirit is an amazing experience... but other than that nothing special. the teachers only care if you're really smart or if you are an athletic all-star. If you are not either of these forget about getting the best education you can. other than education the cost to attend Male is ridiculous. I paid $500 on registration day!!! That to me is insane for a public school!
Male is an outstanding school! Our children were very well prepared for college. Yes the rules are strict and students get called out for being out of uniform but they know the rules and they are required to live by them. Our children were involved in everything from sports to music and several clubs in between. We also had one who was a class officer for four years. They learned in the classroom and all outside of it. We are confident we did the right thing by putting our child in the traditional program. Male exceeded all of our expectations. Go Dawgs!
My nephew went here and had to switch out because the communication with the teachers was horrendous!
I LOVE MALE HIGH SCHOOL!!! That is the only way i can even come close to describing how wonderful this school is!
I love this school it is very good strong academically and strict. My kid loves it too.
I have one Male grad and two current students. Male has served all three very well. With the return of Mr. Boehm as principal Male is running a tighter ship. He set higher expectations for the students teachers and staff and most of them have met or exceeded his challenge. My daughter felt very prepared for college and has excelled at that level. Parental involvement is expected and the turnout is high. It's not all work and no play. Male has a large variety of clubs and teams to join and their music department is outstanding. All-in-all we have been very pleased with the place we call our second home. Go Dawgs!
Male is a great school! The teachers are wonderful and actually enjoy teaching. The traditional program is the best college prep available in the public system.
This school is terrible. My child has told me numerous times that he feels like all they care about is what he's memorized lately rather than actually learning the material. They are always worried about the dress code for no particular reason other than 'to see which teacher can get the most dress code write ups'. I would recommend avoiding this school at all costs!
Wonderful school with teachers that understand the balance between academic and social learning. Highly recommended.
I'm a senior at Male right now and I hate it. Most of the teachers and administation are too uptight and strict. They obsess over the smallest thing (like one inch of your shirt being untucked) and focus on that rather than concentrate on doing what they're paid to do which is teach.
I went to male for 2 years and hated it. It was a school built only for special children that either have great athletic abilities or live soley on books. If you dont devote your life to academics or athletics your chance of recieving a decent education is very slim. So i switch to Ballard High where students come first and all suceed!
Male High School does what they say they will do and nothing less. They prepare us for college and allow us to decide what classes we take later in the years to give us a head start in preparing for our careers. They teach us self-discipline and to be respectful to others. Instead of cramming ideas into our heads giving us tests over it and allowing us to forget all the information we are given withing just a few days they allow us to teach each other and ourselves with their guidance so we understand and make sure that we remember what we are being taught. I would deff. recommend this school to others.
I am now a senior at Male High School and I must admit it is a great school. Going in I had my doubts about it because of it being so strict but I quickly learned thats not the case. The kids are usually great to be around and easy to get along with. Male does a great job of filtering out students who cause problems which makes the school safe. On top of that they just added 32 cameras to watch over everyone and make sure things move smoothly. The teachers and staff and especially the principal are great with working with you. There main goal is to get you to succeed in life and move on to college. Thats why Male has a 99% graduation rate and 90%$ of them go on to college. Male also has reat sport programs and win state championships on a yearly basis.
I feel that this is one of the best public schools to attend. I am currently a sophomore there and like all of my teachers in addition to my classes. Most of the teachers aren't as strict as they're made out to be. All in all I would much rather go to this school as opposed to another school in the area.
I attended Male High School for two years. I began to notice the lack of education I was being taught and the teachers and principles were becoming soft and allowing students to run the school. Male High is not a strict school nor a great academic facility. Thats all words printed by the faculty or by parents glad to see their child succeeding. Male has become a daycare in which the babysitters allow students to tease others without addressing the problem. I have switched to a private school and feel much safer and educated. I was embarrassed to tell people I attended Male.
My daughter graduated 5-07. She moved away to college and had a great first semester. I am grateful for the many wonderful teachers who helped in making her so prepared and provided enchoragement. Sure there were some problems but you will have that anywhere. As a parent it is important to guide your child and prepare them for future and life isn't just fun and games and high school won't be either. I currently have a sophomore at Male and continue to be pleased with what I see at Male.
Male is an extremely challenging and advantageous school. The education is top notch and the discipline of all my peers amazes me. the dress code keeps male focused on the work done which has made us a top school in the country. I recomend this school it's supportive fun caring and trully works as a team and its so much fun to take part in that.
