Test Scores by grade

Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA)

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.

I am currently a student attending Saucon Valley and like the other reviews I find it to be cliquey and very focused on social status. Many of the girls tend to gossip about one another and judge other students who do not meet their standards. I would not recommend other students to attend this school though I myself am still here I will be hopefully moving soon. However the curriculum is very well developed and many of the teachers are especially qualified specifically in the middle school. I know this review is not on the middle school but I would like to say that I enjoyed having many of my middle school teachers and most prominently the gifted teacher whose name I will remain up identified for the sake of privacy. She was the best teacher I have ever had and will most possibly uphold this spot for she had the ability to teach a subject and allow a through understanding by the student. I am saddened that there is no classes in the high school aimed solely to expand on creativity such as the classes I attended in middle school during an extension period though there are AP classes. There are also many extracurricular activities to attend such as debate club or band.

School board qualifications should be higher. These people only need to be a resident of 1 year and to be at least 18 years of age. That's it! They do not listen. They fate of our children is placed in their hands! Reread their qualifications. They disrespect the tax payer by dismissing your concerns in hopes that you will just go away. They are a mess!! Go to a meeting with a serious will leave ill.

I love this school. Im a senior and i came to this school bak in 5th grade. Yes it was somewhat hard to fit in but now everybody gets along in the highschool. The teachers are amazing and so is our curriculum. Its a little private school but has plenty of honors and AP courses. Heavy on sports and one of the top schools in wrestling (

Excellent Staff and qualified teachers. Superb Principals and support staff. Building Very clean and well maintained. Cafeteria food excellent and good healthy foods with diverse menu for students. Heathly environment for student means a healthy furture and a good learning enviironment. The voice automated communication system to keep students and parents informed is Top Technology. The students books are available and not shared as well as having individual student and parent email accounts. Students can work online and save their homework from home and then be available when then get to school. Saves our trees. The technology based with laptops available in individual classrooms and the swimming facility is great. Thank you to all in making a great school for my daughter.

Alot of people say that adapting to this school is hard and very unexcepting. Well I just have to remind those people that the students of this school have been here since 1st grade together and the cliques have been formed a long time ago. This is because unlike the rest of schools we did not seperate from one another instead we had to be kept with the same people for 8 years. Makiing the bonds between certian people extremely strong. The school is definetly strong in acidemics however it sometimes is to well developed. By that i mean tests are given frequently. But even with all these flaws it is still my school and I accept it for what it is.

As a student at saucon valley high school i very much dislike it. i love to have school spirit but i dont find anything good about our school. we do have a good education i guess but the atmosphere is really bad. its extremely cliquey and the girls are 'not so nice'. most people are not acccepted into the social trends and when you are not most people tend to treat you badly

Still a very cliqey school. Tough to break into if you are new. Constantly being evaluated as to whether or not you 'belong' even if you are not new. Academics OK but grades inflated.

Our son graduated from Saucon in 2006. We moved into the region when he entered 9th grade coming from a very small middle school. We liked the size of Saucon not too big. It allowed him to get personal academic attention and to be involved in a lot of extra curricular activities. The school has an economically diverse student body and a great sense of community. Our son really did well there. He was accepted at his first choice college so we feel like we made the right decision.

Saucon is a good academic school as well as athletics. It also has a strong arts program. It's a good school to get involved in.

I am currently attending Saucon Valley High School. I am a freshmen and was scared to come to high school at the fear of being rejected by upperclassmen. The is not the case. I am involved in sports and other activities and seem very welcome at Saucon. And though we are not diverse we still accept those who are.

As a former student of Saucon Valley and a parent now myself I can tell you that if you are looking for a pleasant and inviting school for your children this is not the place. This school is great academic wise but as the parent before me said neither the teachers or students are that nice. Race and culture does play some part in the overall poor atmosphere but it is surely not just the minorities that are uncomfortable. Unless your child will be driving a BMW or equivilant they too will probably agree that Saucon Valley is not the place for them.

Saucon Valley has excellent academics but the environment is not that great. The teachers aren't that nice and neither are the students. Among the student population most are white and those who are not often get teased for being different. If anyone plans to move to the area and they are culturally diverse or ethnically diverse I suggest sending your child to another school.
