Best School Ever! Best Staff Ever! I have 4 daughters and ALL have attended Smiley an All have loved their learning experience. I moved from a different county because of the schools system. They pay more attention to the students an they care beyond their duties as teachers. I will be proud to see my last "graduate" Smiley but I will be a sad parent to leave the school an staff.

My son attended kindergarten at Smiley. I am horrified by this County's education department. Education especially kindergarten is such an important time to instill a life-long love of learning. Sadly this school treats the children as if it is a concentration camp. My son was told everyday prior to leaving the classroom to put his "hands behind your back and mouths shut." Other children were bullied and the teachers stood by chatting in complete disregard. There are very few teachers that I met that actually belong in the field and the inadequate teacher my son had explained that the principal would flip if the children made any noises in the hallway. Corporal punishment is still in effect at this school. They also have a militarized program (run by former drill instructors) for the "delinquents". I would absolutely seek an alternate schooling option if you care about your child's elementary education!

I would like to thank the staff and teachers at Smiley Elementary School for providing a safe clean and great learning experience for my 5 year old grandson i could not ask for bettter learning experience from Mrs Dent and Miss Walker. I have been associated with larger public schools and private schools and Smiley has exceeded my expectations.

My child attended kindergarten at Smiley during 2012-2013. I will admit that I was extremely hesitant in sending him to the school due to the location and word-of-mouth horror stories from other parents in surrounding districts. I absolutely misjudged the school and the teachers. My son is now at the top of his class and has excelled greatly. I honestly believe he has the best teacher. She is warm caring and hands-on with her class and students. I couldn't ask for a better teacher and teacher assistant. The staff is extremely friendly and always helpful. I have only had ONE complaint the ENTIRE school year and that was concerning the teacher my son was initially assigned to. She wasn't exactly friendly or caring. We discussed our concerns with the principal and our child was immediately moved to a different class no questions asked. I am saddened by the fact that we are moving and our son will not be attending school here in the future. I would stay in a heartbeat knowing that my son is getting a top-notch education.

Even though Smiley Elementary has grown in population size tremendously in the past 2 years (we are now over 1 000 students with our PreK) our school still has that small town feel of concern for students and making an effort to reach out to parents to include them in all sorts of ways. The teachers at Smiley are on top of their game with keeping the curriculum in-line with state standards. We don't always agree that pushing advanced content at a younger age is appropriate but we try to make the best of it by teaching using lots of different methods to help our students succeed and by letting parents know exactly how tough the new GA curriculum is and what to expect. We have technology and use it with our students and have one fo the best librarians around who works so hard to make reading fun. If you are a parent who values quality education Smiley Elem is the school for your child.

My son has been at Smiley for 2 years now and he loves it there. We moved here from Texas as my husband was stationed here on Ft Stewart. We bought our first home here and i must say I was a bit nervous moving to a small town but i love it here everyone is so nice and Smiley is just a wonderful schoo...Their main goal is education and believe me they are great at what they do. My son is in Mrs. Lesters first grade class and she is such a wonderful teacher very honest and loves her kids very much. We are so blessed to be able to expirence this wonderful school. Thanks for all your hard work Smiley keep up the good work!!!!

While stationed at Fort Stewart my daughter attended kindergarted here at Smiley. I loved this school the security and the teachers especially Miss Rutherford and Mrs. Harrison they were always helpful and encouraging. We are now currently stationed in Fort Bragg NC and I wish the school she is attending now was or could be just like smiley! Thanks for caring and being a great school with an awesome staff.

I am an employee of Smiley Elementary. I have to say that I absolutely love coming to work every day. We work in a wonderful environment with great leadership. From our teachers to administration and everyone in between it is just a great place. With a name like 'Smiley' happiness is a requirement.

This is absolutely the best school in the world!! We have the best administrators in our building that a school could ever dream of. I hope that I never have to work for anyone other than the principals at this school. Our parents at this school are wonderful and very supportive of the teachers. The parents are very concerned and active in their child's education. I can not imagine any parent not being pleased with the education their child receives at Smiley. It is the mission of all staff members to provide every child with the very best education possible.

This is my daughter's second year at Smiley. She's in Mrs. Mitchell's first grade class. She always makes the parents feel welcome and keep us informed/involved as to what is going on in the classroom. Even her Kindergarten teacher Ms. Tootle still checks in her on every now and then to make certain that she is doing well. Overall I have been more than pleased with both the staff and educational curriculum that Smiley has to offer.

My child has attended smiley elementary for two years. She attended kindergarten in the county where I work and I was not at all pleased with the experience. I moved her to Long County for her first grade year and she sbsolutly loves it there. Mrs. Poole and Mrs. Eaaterling are awesome and have done everything that they could to make school a pleasent experience. She is a bright child who attends the gifted class. She loves Mr.Capeton and always comes home excited about what she learns in his class. Whenever the teaching staff feels that there may be a problem they bring it to attention so that it amy be taken care of. They always make parents feel very welcome and have several nights thru out the year for parents to come in and see what the childern are working on. Smiley Rocks!!!!!!!

My daughter has attended Smiley for the past two years she is now in first grade. Her teachers have been more than helpful when it comes to parents knowing what is going on as far as curriculum. The field trips are always educational and parents are always welcomed. She has excelled tremendously and is now in the gifted program thanks to her first grade teacher's recommendation. Parents are welcomed to eat with their child and to request last minute conferences. The only thing that I would change is the extracurricular activities. I feel that there should be more. Overall this is a great school and if I were not moving she would attend there next year along with my younger daughter.
