This was one awesome school. I went tot Berkeley from there. I was totally prepared for the most advanced classes. I miss the most beautiful campus in New England....great friends unbelievable facilities. Very comfortable for upper middle class preppy types and urban hipsters. Food is much better than college.

NMH was a life changing experience for me. I am so appreciative to have gotten in here and attended. It is a special place to spend your high school years. Learned so much connected with great people for life.

I would agree with what another reviewer wrote. It's all about how much you make and how much 'class' you have. I hear students talking down on someone because their 'modeling' career hadn't taken off.. Utter garbage. It's not just students. Teachers and anyone else who resides (free housing) on campus. They are above you and everyone else. I agree that you'll definately get a reality check on how people can act in real life.

NMH was an interesting experience. They had jobs there and that gave students a sense of responsibility and discipline. Having people there from around the world allowed students to meet a lot of people from different backgrounds. I was there when it was 2 campuses so it was interesting to have the artsy campus and the jock campus. It was quite a liberal school which can be very liberating because a lot of these private schools can be quite conservative. This gave students a chance to be themselves rather than having to live up to this traditional standard. I remember the first place I ever heard about global warming. It opened up my mind to a lot of new ideas. There was some clickiness going on but most of that was on the Hermon campus. Those who were bothered always could escape to the Northfield campus.

I am a parent of a freshman this year. The school has had the best most caring and intelligent teachers I've ever seen in a high school. The campus is beautiful and the environment friendly. I recommend this school to eager bright students.

I love the atmosphere and the student-faculty relationship. I just graduated as a 4-year senior and I've been through the big change of moving to one campus. It's been hard but I know that NMH will thrive in 5 or 10 years. I recommend your children to go because it's not a place where 'grade' is everything. They've got great athletic programs (NE Champ of Soccer Frisbee and Track) and performing arts program and currently is constructing a new art-center. Worth taking a tour and check it out!

I went to NMH. They do give out a lot of financial aid but the overall attitude of the families and students that attend NMH is very negative toward those who are not of their financial status. I definitely agree that attending this school will educates your child about the harsh realities of life. It is extremely hard to have a social life outside the school if you are not wealthy. I believe that this school enables an elitist attitude. On the other hand my brother also attended this shool and had a wonderful experience.

I am very recent graduate from NMH. It prepared me very well for my college and I am very grateful. There are also tons of activities to get involved in and doing so I learned how to manage my time so I will be able to do academic work. There are a lot of adults who are exceptional and care so much about students.

Northfield Mount Hermon my daughter is a senior this yr (2005)I feel she has friends from all over the world. What an amazing group of teens I love every one of them. The schools grounds fields dormitories are breath taking. It should have been the greatest experience of her life. This school is the greatest disappointment to us.The caliber of the teachers is shocking in the four yrs my daughter has been there each yr the quality of teaching reached a new low. The schools faculty deans and administration take no accountability. The lack of respect that I have seen first hand to the students is a disgrace.

This is the perfect school that has great diversity and appropriate combination of artistic physical academic and spiritual education.

My daughter was a recent graduate of NMH and our feelings about the school reflect a great disappointment in the quality of the teaching staff .There is an incredible lack of respect for the students both personally and philosophically. They just dont seem to have a vested interest in the students or their work. My daughter all four years attempted to go to the leaders of the school to demand to be heard on these issues without success.

I am a former student who had a rough time during junior high school. When I started at NMH I was blown away by the diversity of the student body. I met roomed played sports and bonded with people from all over the world. While I was there we had students from 86 countries and all 50 states. I cannot stress how valuble this was. NMH taught me not just to tolerate people who are different but to embrace the fact that people are different. We learned to see diversity as an asset not a liability. It's just common sense. There is only so much you can learn from someone who is just like you.

NMH is one of the best enviorments that kids can grow up in. Also unlike many other schools Northfield offers many extra-curricular activities for students so they always have something to do.

I have to disagree with the review written in 2004 because Northfield Mount Hermon is a wonderful environment. NMH provides students with an excellent education and friendly with everyone. NMH isn't a snobby rich kids' school. It actually has a high amount of financial aide given out.

NMH is cliquey. Jocks popular geeks freaks. Northfield campus has more acceptance towards abnormality. NMH can be counterproductive.

Our daughter is a freshman this year. Application/admission process was extremely impressive and we have found that the staff and faculty continue to be extraordinary! Academics are first-rate athletics and extracurriculars are equally impressive. Have another daughter who will graduate from another New England boarding school this spring and she put it best 'Why didn't I look at NMH?!' If you are considering boarding schools - definitely check out Northfield Mount Hermon!

I was actually a student of NMH. Going to this school was one of the best experiences of my teenage years. The amount of activities classes and sports was amazing. Many boarding schools have a reputation of being full of snobby rich kids. I never felt that way about NMH. There were clicks but everyone knew people from all of them and got along very well. Going to NMH prepared me better for college nad for life than public school ever did.
