Excellent program for the gifted and talented kids. The school sponsored a team that won the international Future Problem Solving challenge for example. And then there is the music program - great staff and participation from everyone. The student concerts are very impressive.
For kids who are gifted acedemically there are courses such as Project Challenge and Advanced Math that keeps them interested. For those interested in sports there are plenty of choices across a wide range of activities. On top of that the school has a great music program with excellent participation from both the students and parents. Overall it's a very well rounded school.
RRMS is overall a pretty good school. I'm currently an 8th grader at RRMS and I have loved all 3 years here. I enjoyed class with many of my teachers except for a few. I've met some new friends here and learned many more useful tools. The band and orchestra are AMAZING. RRMS is great!
this school is just amazing and i think that my skills have excelled through the years being there
The band program is the best. The band teacher is friends with all of his band students and it is impossible not to have a great time in his room! Sure there are a few bullying isssues but what middle school doesn't? Some of the teachers are great and really care about their students while others only care about their specific subject. I absolutley do not like the principal. He just sits there and does nothing and takes all the credit for everything. The vice principal should be the real principal he interacts with the students and says 'Good morning ' to everyone he sees in the hall unlike the principal who just occasionally yells at someone who is running in a hallway. Anyways i do not understand what the big fuss about the bus transportation program is. Everyone gets home safe and sound don't they? If someone wants a better bus program why don t they go out and drive the buses themselves. The students definetley do not have power over the busdriver. He or she could turn the bus around at any second and go back to the school.
This is only my first year in Ramapo Ridge. This year school has been great but the math program is a little slow. I'm in band and band is awesome! Everyone's nice and sixth graders can be friends with eigth graders. The only thing I would work on is the student participation.
The academic programs are ok for most average-to-moderately bright students the quality of individual classes varies widely as the quality of teaching in the classrooms runs the gamut from excellent to very poor depending upon the individual teacher. The school administrators care more about the image of the school as a whole than about individual students within it safety is questionable at recess and bullying is a big problem to which lip service is the inevitable response rather than substantive and effective steps to solve the problem. The bus transportation is unsafe as well. the music program is strong only if your child plays an instrument the drama and art programs are pitifully weak. Also class sizes are too big.
The quality of the education at Ramapo Ridge is without question excellent. However there is a serious clique and bullying problem that is not addressed at the school. The teachers are great and so is the principal but I think they look the other way too often when it comes to peer relationships. The buses are also out of control--when did they let the kids be in charge?
This school is wonderful and teaches the children everything they need to know.
