YWDS offers a Montessori preschool option as well as a tradtional preschool. I choose the Montessori preschool classroom for my son just because of his personality and I am so happy I did. He learned so much from the two years (mixed age class) he spent there. He is more than prepared for Kindergarten academically and socially. The teachers were amazing. They quietly maintain a workman like atmosphere that breeds friendship cooperation and happiness. You can always walk by and see well occupied children enjoying the activities and lessons. So happy to have my child begin his academic career here. He's off to a fantastic start. Thanks YWDS!

Young World is a wonderfully individualized educational environment with a global world view. The highlights of my son's year were hands on science experiments learning aboriginal songs from Australia finding different parts of the world to study playing the teacher in math and reading books with fluency at two levels ahead of grade. The French and Technology classes were wonderful additions to his week and he enjoyed yoga and basketball very much. If there were one thing I would improve it would be having a better online presence since the website does not do justice to the school. It is a truly wonderful supportive education that aims for the stars and fosters a wonderful world view. They are producing students who care about the whole planet not just their corner if it and that is what makes them different it is a global elementary education.

Recently I enrolled my daughter in Young World Day School in the middle of her third grade year. She was struggling in school with friendships and bullying which caused her academic progress to be hindered. I found her doing the bare minimum and her self esteem was suffering. She just did not want to go to school anymore. At that point I put her in Young World's Primary II classroom and have seen a tremendous difference! My daughter loves school now! She loves learning. She is inquisitive. She is learning how to be successful in school and also in life. Her self confidence is growing. I am so thankful for Young World and the difference it has made in my daughter's life. They have really met her where she is and are coming alongside her to give her the tools for success - in school and in life. I know she would not get this type of education in a regular public school - and this personal attention to her needs. As a teacher myself I know these tools are essential and learning them now in the primary school years will set her up for success in the rest of her schooling. Thank you again Young World!

Our children are in the traditional program. We are thrilled at the amount of excitement we have seen from them. They are yelling over each other after each day to tell us what they did what they learned and how they want to go back tomorrow. Our first grader has learned more in one week at Young World than he did in an entire year at another private school. I wish I were exaggerating but it is true. The nurturing environment is amazingly supportive for kids who want to learn at higher levels than their age cohort. If your child is sensitive caring interested in science and performs well above level in reading and math you will be thrilled with Young World. It is well worth the money for the love of learning they inspire and the safe environment they provide. One caveat if your child is aggressive or ill-behaved these behaviors are not tolerated here. This is not a generic private school. They can be exclusive because they are so good at what they do. We consider ourselves fortunate to have Young World as an option.

The best kept secret of Bergen County! I am so fortunate that I discovered Young World Day School. Here is a private school that truly inculcates a love for learning in children. Kids grow up believing it's 'cool' to be smart. The quality of teachers and the value they bring to the learning process is quite remarkable. I am happy to say my children have spent unforgettable days and times at this one-of-a-kind school. Keep it up Young World!

I would like to disagree with the previous review. My Child had quite the opposite experience at Young World Day school. As far as private school options go after 5th grade in this area of Bergen County there are not many options especially if you do not want to go the catholic school route. There are also many children over the years who have gone from Young World to Saddle River and therefore the alumni community is very happy to share and encourage other students to follow there path. That being said it is a parents responsibility to guide their child's education and do the research for what is best and available to your child. I certainly know that these students when they leave Young World Day School after 5th grade and enter Public School they are above and beyond prepared academically and socially to handle the rigors of Middle School. It is a wonderful group of teachers in both the Primary and pre-school of Young World Day School and most any child would be lucky to be able to be taught by one or all of them.

As a parent with two children in this school I have found that this school holds itself out to be an arm of the Saddle River Day School. It only goes up to 5th grade and there is absolutely no assistance guidance or support with finding middle schools for students once they have completed the 5th grade. Young World steers students only to Saddle River Day School and takes a hard core bully approach if parents do not go along with the program. Will not timely write recommendations or cooperate with the application process. YWDS s strong ties to the Saddle River Day School tends to impede the learning process because it appears to be just a farm team for Saddle River Day School. Weak in math and science and I found that at least two middle schools do not respect the low level of academic quality in these subjects. The best thing about this school is its French class and yoga. Awesome!

The Pre-school program is everything you could wish for. The teachers are very caring and are always welcoming. They really make your child feel special. Almost all the teachers know your child by name. The curriculum provides a very well-rounded approach for learning in a pleasant and bright classroom. My child has been very interested in books and tries to read by herself. I can only thank the teachers for her enthusiasm for learning and going to school.

My children started at Young World Day School when they were ages 2 and 3 and continued through 5th grade. They have gone on to private middle school where they are very well prepared and continue to love learning. YWDS provides a wonderful foundation for your child's future success.

I was very disappointed with their full day kindergarten program. My child was not adequately prepared for first grade.

The Montessori program at this school is poor. The teachers are very low energy and have trouble managing the students. I do not think this is a quality Montessori program.

Young World Day School has greatly broadened my childs view of art and literature. They have an excellant computer lab small class size and a wonderful parent/teacher group. Thought provoking academics and high standards.

YWDS is a fantasatic learning environment. The teachers and staff really care about your children. In addition to traditional studies children are also taught classic art music and foreign language. My child loves attending this school.

Young World Day School is amazing! The student-teacher ratio is very low. Each child receives individual attention and will get the help they need or more challenges so that they won't get bored. The teachers are caring and professional. My kids love Young World! It is the greatest.
