My duaghter is going into 2nd grade at Yocum also but has been there since kindergarten. I love the school! they're getting a new principal this year but Mr. Gaffney was wonderful and I hope the new one is too. The teachers are great I've never had a problem with bullying and they really seem to make sure every child is getting the help or praise they need. I think you'll be very happy with the school!

My daughter will be going to 2nd grade at this school in Sept. and i am terrified because i dont know what to expect at this school. With the teachers or the influence of the students...Sometimes i think these reviews are staged..no school is perfect but do the teachers care about the students' education.

Stop blaming the school. The school is great and so are the teachers. Its a cheery bright school. However the behavioral issues of some of the children is ridiculous. The parents are the ones that need teaching. Why do they send the children to school without the basics such as manners respect and class? Teach your kids the basics at home so the kids that have been taught this can actually learn instead of watching the teachers correct your disobedient children!!! FROM A Mommy.

This school is awful. Drop off/pickup is a nightmare and my daughter was learning in kindergarten the same things she learned in pre-k. The teachers care but parents and students not so much.

I've had two children go through this school and they've been nothing but helpful supportive and friendly.

My son is in Mrs. Bauer's kindergarten class this year. She is a wonderful teacher who cares about each one of her children like they are her own. We have had a very positive experience this year.

My daughter got the opportunity to be a part of this school for the last few months. And in this short period she was so attached to this school her Kindergarten teachers specially her class teacher and offcourse her friends that it was a challenging job for us to convince her in moving from Maple Shade to PA.Yes we have recently moved to PA and now missing Howard Yocum school.I like to thank my daughter's class teacher to give her a homely and affectionate class atmosphere. It would be a treasure in her whole life.

My daughter entered Yocum school last year in first grade. I did grow up in town however attended catholic school all 12 years. I am so happy to say that the school is excellent. It is so well ran it understands that parents work and cannot just drop things to be an active parent the communications between my daughter's first grade teacher and myself was second to none while there were a few things that may need improvement nothing too radical that it brings my opinon down on the school. I am happy to be home and even happier that my daughter will get to grow in this school district.

My son started Yocum school 2 years ago. After a rocky year in kidnergarten he had a great 1st grade school year and I am anticipating an even better 2nd grade school year. Kudos to Mr. Gaffney and the office staff! They are on top of their game. I would love to see more music programs available to the little kids. That is about it.

Before I enrolled my son in Howard Yocum I ran the statistics of the school. I wanted to know what type of school my son would feel comfortable while being there. I am an African American parent whereas Yocum is a predominantly white school. I must say that the past 2 years my son has been at Yocum has been a sigh of relief to me. He has made many friends in the 2nd year than the 1st. He enjoys going to school and love all his friends. The staff at Yocum are very cordial even know me by name when I come to the school. Mr. Gaffney really has a hold on that school. My son knows that inappropriate behavior is not acceptable in and out of school. All of the programs are great. I would not want to transfer him to any other school.

Daniel Gaffney is a principal who cares for and about our children ! His staff is AMAZING what dedication.Just to stroll down the halls of the wonderful school and you yourself will see just by the smiles on the children ! I am so grateful that my child was able to attend 3 happy years at Yocum Elementary .
