Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS)

In 2011-2012 Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) was used to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona's learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.

This high school is GREAT! I'm a freshman and I'm loving everyday. Sophomores Juniors and Seniors are super nice! Junior "So you're a sophomore?" Me "No Freshman." Junior "It's all cool what do you have next hour?" They're really friendly. Bus transportation - FREE! Teachers are great! I have the best teachers in the world right now. I just received my report card in the mail 2 days ago with a 4.00 GPA. The spirit that the school has is amazing! Every Friday is spirit day where a lot of people celebrate in the cafeteria. Pep rallies are always fun to go to. The buildings and computers are new and everyone walks around with a fresh feeling. Lockers are provided as well! The new gym weight room and locker room looks fantastic! The arts performing building is in construction and is also looking very nice. Overall this school is awesome! Go Rams!!!

MHS has been such a great choice for my child. After conteplating on wheter or not to send him to Tempe we chose to stay close to home. Thank goodness! The staff has been great and they are already preparing him for college in the 9th grade! We couldn't be happier and our student is suceeding and has excelled on Aims after 3 years at a maricopa middle school. I support MUSD and their staff!

This is my daughters first year at MHS. Being a little nervous with the schools reputation I had my concerns. MHS . In the 2 months my daughter has been attending. I find the teachers and the staff there have been fantastic. My daughter an A student loves it there. Quite a bit of homework but she loves it there. Since the new building has been completed the teachers and students seem to be walking around with a renewed sense of pride. So far I feel we made the correct decision. I will update this review in 2 months.

I went to MHS for 2 years and though the teachers are wonderful the school seems like it is more for 'at risk' students and entirely too easy for anyone with higher motivation and capabilities. Granted the school does offer a few more challenging courses they just don't seem challenging enough for the rest of the students who have higher expectations.

Maricopa High has growing pains but is dealing well with the population explosion.

The academic and extracurricular offerings at MHS are steadily improving. The school is headed in the right direction.

So far from what I have seen of this school it is less than adequate to give my child the education she deserves.

luv this school... teachers are ok... but kids are nice.

I have two sons attending Maricopa schools. One is a sophmore in High school and the other is in the eighth grade. My eighth grader has been in the special education program in Maricopa since third grade. I have been concerned about my son's progress for the last 4 years. But I was not aware of my rights as a parent of a child with learning disabilities. I have always attended my son's IEP meetings but I've never fully understood how important they are. My son has not made any progress in the special education program at Maricopa School. I feel it has been highly ineffective. I would strongly encourage any parent who has a child with learning disabilities to look very closely at their program. Read and know your rights as a parent of a child with disabilities review your child's school records and get help to understand them.

If you as a parent keep in contact with the school you will have a better relationship. Try emailing the teachers on a weekly basis. If you don't get the response you need then contact Mr. Jeff St. Clair he is always willing to do what is needed. He will make sure it gets done.

My son (sophmore) just completed his first year at Maricopa H.S. They need to do more to spec. ed. kids. Don't see (most) teachers wanting to go out of their way with homework assist. Not enough communication with parent-teachers-staff. Being a small school there is alot of opportunity here.
