ECMS is an awful school. With the exception of one of my child's teachers the teaching stuff they learned in 4th grade. My child has been bullied by several students and yet the staff there don't do anything about the issues at hand. They seem to think its ok to have bullying in the school... I was told "My child has to physically come to them and state they are being bullied in order for them to do anything". Thats obsurd! When a parent tells you this is what is being seen at home and your child doesn't want to go to school. . . this is a CLEAR sign!!!!! The sign "NO BULLY ZONE" or "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND" are false advertising. They don't care and their rating on this site proves it!!!!! The administrative staff should care not only about the paycheck they get but really whats more important.... the child who gets money stolen from them or personal belongings taken away and the child has to chase the bully around the room to get the item back. And what is that the teacher is doing to stop this!?! Nothing. The teacher sits down and ignores the student being bullied. What parent doesn't see this as a case of bullying....

ECM is a great school and my son is doing well there. My daughter also attended ECM and exceeded. I have one more child that will attend ECM and I am looking forward to it. Thanks

i want to ECMS and i absolutely loved it. Sure there were some fights and bullies but every school has them. I had a great experience loved almost all of my teachers and learned a ton. I am now in a Magnet program and East Cobb more than prepared me for the courses. The teachers are really good at helping you all you have to do is ask. Overall East Cobb was a great experience for me and definitely will help me in the real world.

I was under the impression that this was a great school for my child to attend. I am not under that impression anymore. We all talk about kids being bullies but you have to keep your eyes open now and watch out for the teachers. Some teachers are bullies as well as also manipulators. Bring something to their attention they are quick to say that the students who witness or say anything about what happened is a problem child. Me as a parent feel that no teacher or administrator should criticize or down talk about a child to another parent. I feel that if more students didn't feel that they would be treated different if they told on a teacher that may be talking to them any kind of way I believe a lot of light would be shed on these teachers. Some teachers need to learn to listen to students as well and not just go off of what someone say. And if you're gonna talk about another student to others make sure its not so everyone can hear you or if I'm an outsider I shouldn't hear how bad you just talked about someones child.

East Cobb Middle School has been a great place for my kids. I have one who is now in the Wheeler magnet and one who is currently attending. Advanced content classes are great. Parents on ptsa and foundation are involved. Connection classes provide a wealth of opportunities. Next splost is set to build a new school. If you know you go!

We have had a very positive experience! Great kids and teachers! The parents on the PTSA and Foundation are awesome!!

Okay let me just say that if you go there you won't learn. The teachers are really bland. My mom took me out of this school because I couldn't learn. If you're in AC classes you're good. If you aren't good luck. There would always be multiple fights a day in the girls locker room and lots of verbal abuse.

I was quite nervous about my son going to ECMS all the reviews scared me! Now with almost a full year behind us I am honestly very happy. He is playing violin AND lacrosse he's in all AC classes getting straight A's and learning about the real world. I am very pleased with the high academic schedule and the opportunity for him to grow and mature. If you're in the ECMS district don't be afraid you'll be pleasantly surprised as well.

My children played in orchestra had teachers who cared very much about their education and made lots of new friends. It was a wonderful experience for our whole family.

Time for middle school! Oh no where should we send our child? What a fabulous decision we made .not to mention a huge savings by not going the private route. We gave ECMS a chance and the last 3 years have been tremendous. The quality of the teaching has been superb and leadership has proven to be exceptional. The diversity of the children as well as the curriculum offered have made this a wonderful experience. We clearly made the right choice and look forward to Wheeler High School next year. I realize now that the only people who have bad things to say about ECMS are those who have never sent their children there. What a shame and a waste of a fabulous opportunity.

Sent my daughter to ECMS and she is now at Wheeler in the Magnet program. While at ECMS she formed great friends learned to play the oboe created a team and competed and won several awards in the National Future City competition. learned video production through ECMS ECTV helped start the drama club etc etc. She and her friends now at Wheeler had a great time at ECMS and were prepared for high school. My son is now in 6th grade at ECMS - very different experience because he is a much quieter kid. He is getting fantastic grades is learning the oboe and loves it has made friends and is having very positive feedback from his teachers. He is having a great experience. ECMS has the #1 middle school PTSA in the state of Georgia currently headed by the Cobb County School District Volunteer of the Year. I always feel welcome by the staff teachers and administration. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer at every level - classroom to school wide. Communications is open and teachers respond quickly to questions or concerns.

My son attends 7th grade at ECMS and is completely miserable here. He's been bullied constantly and assaulted multiple times. He's afraid to even ride the school bus because of how out of control some of the children are. My son has gone so far as to go into the principles office on his own and tell who was bullying him the kids were spoken to and told to go back to class. two weeks later one of the boys hit my son in the face and proceeded to hit him he fought back and was suspended from school for 4 days... he was defending himself and received the same punishment as the student who attacked him. This is just 1 of about 4 four incidences. This school claims to have a ZERO TOLERANCE for both BULLYING and FIGHTING yet they only enforce one of the two. Ive been up to this school more times than I can count and frankly I'm tired... Ive contacted the superintendent and am looking into another school. I can no longer watch my child suffer here.

The school is horrible . It has a dress code where kids only have to wear collared shirts there are so much rules. The school is filled with drama. The kids bully other kids especially cyber bullying. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD THERE IF YOU WANT SAFETY FOR HIM/HER/THEM.

My son has attended this school for the last two years (6th & 7th Grades). He has been taking all Advanced Classes. This will be his last year there as next year he will be starting High School. While I cannot speak to their regular classed. I can say that they have a very good advanced class program. I have never had any problems getting in touch with any of his teachers. I have only had one problem with a teacher that was very slow in updating Pinnacle with my son's grades and that was two years ago. Lastly I can say that my son has enjoyed his time while attending this school so far and likes his classmates. Me and my son are very close I believe that if he had any problems with this school he would tell me. The work has not always been easy but the grades have always been fair and with hard work my son has been able to maintain a straight A average.

My daughter attended this school during her 7th grade year and for part of her 8th grade year. This school is horrible. The kids are out of control and the administration is not responsive to any of the issues. I would stay away from from schools with a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students because the administration at such schools never seem to care about the welfare of the students.

My daughter just finished the 6th grade advanced content classes and she had a wonderful year! The teachers are really involved with the students and making sure they have a good grasp of the materials. Every teacher has an email address and my daughter used them often for any questions that came up during homework time. She is very excited about 7th grade and I am excited for her! Also there are lots of extracurricular activities available and plenty of opportunities for parents to be involved with the school!

My daughter is also in advanced content classes. She has been at East Cobb for both 6th and 7th grade. She loves it and is happier with this group of students teachers administrators and staff than at any other school she is ever attended and it is middle school!!!
