Gateway/End-of-Course (GT/EOC)

In 2011-2012 Tennessee used the Gateway/End-of-Course (EOC) exams to test high school students in language arts, math, science and social studies upon completion of relevant courses. This year they introduced two new exams in algebra II and English III. Students must pass the algebra I, English II and biology I tests, called the Gateway exams, in order to graduate. The Gateway/EOC exams are standards-based tests that measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Tennessee. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

My Daughter attend this school and it's awesome. Schooling doesn't stop at school and teachers are not there to raise your children. I'm proud to say that my daughter has had some acceptional teacher these pass 3 years and they are getting her prepared for college. And the Principal is absolutely awesome. He might not be the paper pusher the board wants him to be. But i can say he is most defiantly and hands on loving and caring person. And what he love most are children that try.

Wooddale High School- This school is often looked over and the people outside looking look down upon it since i have attended this school from 11th grade to 12th i have enjoyed it every school has it's flaws and as soon as you attend it you might not enjoy it as much as the people familiar with it but this school is pretty good i mainly like the teachers they make the school. Without the teachers there would be no school right? that is my personal opinion.

Although the students did not notice the effort of discipline control and effective instruction Wooddale high school is an outshining and one of the promising schools. The students attititude not to work hard and observe school rules seem reasons to rate low their own school. Hard working students and responsible students love Wooddale High school.

Wooddale High School is not a god school at all. The principal we have now just isn't doing a good job. I believe that if you want to be a principal of a school you have to learn to communicate with the students. Especially if you are new there. You can't just come in and change everything. Talk to the students and show them that you care because if you don't then you will get no respect. And the principal we have now Mr. Banks its liek he just doesn't care for the students. The seniors of Wooddale didn't even have a good senior year. It was so much confusion going on about deadlines and things. Wooddale just isn't what it use to be. I feel so bad for the seniors. And I am a rising senior and I do not plan on being at Wooddale next year.

Wooddale High is not the best of school and if you listen to most of the students who go there they will make sure you know that. That is only because they just want to come to school just to have something to do. Being one of the students who are in the aviation program and is currently learning how to fly I find that this diverse way of learning show that wooddale is not what most people say especially if you do not take the oppurtunities it gives you.

I think Wooddale provides a unique opportunity for African-American students that is being greatly under utilized. Name one other MCS school that permits students to pilot an airplane. I don't think parents appreciate the value they have in their mists.

My daughter always complains to me about this new principal he just came and changed everything that makes the students don't feel comfortable. High school should be more free but now it looks like a middle school. I prefer the old principal more she was a great principal.

Being a student of Wooddale graduating class of '08 I have found some things that I dislike about Wooddale. Overall Wooddale is a decent school though I know it can be better. I really dislike that lack of diversity. If you are a parent and want to send your kid to WHS please make sure you are doing it for the Honors/AP. The principal is also very strict we rarely have any fun day but that is majorly due to the student body's overall behavior.

Wooddale High Is a great school. I attended it for 3 years and i might go back for my senior year.

I have two girls attending Wooddale High. One is in the twelth grade and one is in the ninth. I have not had a lot of bad experiences but there have been some times when I wanted to ask the teachers 'what is your problem?' The principal is trying to make the school one of if not the best school in Memphis. I think she needs a staff to support her.

The students of Wooddale High try their best. The administration encourages the students to do their very best. However parents can help by being more involved in their children's school because children with parentts involved in their school are successful students.

The children of Wooddale High School are by far exceptional; however within the same walls of Wooddale High School these same bright energetic children are treated with disrespect and as mediocre by the Principal and others of her administrative staff. According to some of the schools mission statement - All students have the right to a safe and secure learning environment. All students have a right to a fair equitable and consistent discipline. The school must provide a nurturing environment that promotes self-esteem. The school must provide a variety of opportunities to support and create awareness of student diversity. The school must provide mutual trust and shared educational responsibility with the stakeholders in the school and community. This is not being adhered to at Wooddale High School by the Principal and her APs. It is just the opposite.

The community is very proud of the curriculum at Wooddale High School and the efforts of its students and faculty. It does need a makeover on the behalf of the relationship of the administrative staff with respect to the treatment and respect of the students and parent community. The halls that once resounded the spirit of happiness which is key to education has been changed to one of submission from the hand of oppression. The spark that once existed is now a dim speck in the tomb of gloom. The school run with an iron fist by the principal with no regard for involved parents. The 'Cardinals' song of spirit has been silenced. Help Please!

I'm currently a student at wooddale high and i think it's terrible. It's totally boring. I hate it. I can't wait to leave. We don't have much activities. Bathrooms are gross. Cafeterias are not clean our principal blames it on us but i don't eat there cause it's gross. Lockers are jammed very cheap. People broke into my locker and stole personal belongings. You get in trouble for anything in this school. I hate it. Do not i repeat do not make your child go to this school.

I think that the grades could be better. I also think the teachers could do I better job in teaching. The football team as well as any other sport is in terrible shape. I couldn't see less parents involved at the school. I was once a student there and believe me I couldn't wait to leave because I wanted to learn more in school and the teachers wasn't giving me that advantage.
