I am currently a 7th grade student of Loftis Middle School and I recommend that you do not send your children to the 6th grade especially if your child is easily emotionally distressed. I've had panic attacks in one class because of how strict and overreacting the teachers were in my team. Other than the military school-like dress code and the poor bathroom quality though 7th grade is going quite swimmingly. The 6th grade could use vast improvement in its teachers however.

I am a former student at Loftis. Some of the teachers especially the ones in special ed i liked. Otherwise I HATE LOFTIS. Their dress code is so strict it's pathetic. I constantly got in trouble for not having my shirt tucked in. I could not help the fact that my shirt would untuck itself. Worst of all I received NO help in social skills. When I graduated I felt LIBERATED.

If your kids play sports don't send them here. It's not how good you are it's who you know & how popular are. Alot of parents have seen this too many times.

Run is right. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE. I am keeping my daughter out of school for the rest of the year because she has been cornered in the bathroom and gets assaulted by the same girl EVERYDAY. Nothing is done. I was even told by the VP nothing will be done. They care more about dress code than education or students safety. You have been warned!!!!!

Run! Two of my children attended here and the admin want nothing to do with you and never back up what they say they will do ever. They change rules worried about dress code total lack of child achievement. Unless you are way above average it won't matter if you went to whatever school. You'll excel regardless. I refuse to put my next child here. I'll homeschool before that happens.

If you love your Kids Home school them or find a Different School. Terrible School would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

My daughter just finished 7th grade. It was better than last year but I still think that their is a communication problem with the teachers. They want our children to grow up way too fast and learn responsibility. Well I do too but not at the expense of their grades!!!! My daughter was not bullied this year last year was horrible! I just hope that the 8th grade is going to be a even better year for her!

I really wish that I had read these comments before my son started Loftis in 6th grade. We are half way through the year and he is still struggling and this is a child that made the honor roll just about every report card in elementary school. I have talked with the teachers and the prinicpals and all I hear is how my son is not the only child struggling this year but they don't seem to care enough to do anything to help them. They say it is the students responsibility... my question during a teacher conference was "what is the teachers responsibility" I of course did not get a response. His teachers with the exception of 1 don't appear to care about the students. My son is falling the through the cracks at this school and I have talked all I can. I am going back to the Central Office and have him transferred and my younger son will not be going to Loftis either.

It is a good school that cares about the student.

The teachers that I have encountered there have been.. fine... If you can say that. The Hall ways are crowed when going to class and going to the other places. I can't even have my backpack in my last class not even outside of the room which makes it hard to get to my bus on time.

I like how structured the school is. I like that they challenge my child. When my son made his first C in math he did not get discouraged. He took ownership of his work and brought it back to an A. He loves a good challenge! He is not there for the sports but the Academics.

We love Loftis.. mine has maintained excellent grades made great friends both teachers and kids sports program is outstanding. I think parents need to take a little more responsibility for their kids actions... way too many expect the school to raise their children. Get with it!

This is not where you want to be. They make up the rules as they go. I would not want to be a part of a school that everyone obviously hates.

loftis is a horrible school for students not enough education and all they do is punish students for unruley subjects. loftis is not a five star school try soddy middle.

loftis middle school is a great school. i failed a class but i knew that i could do better and i did. I went to my math teacher and asked her for help and she taught me everything about the lesson we had learned in class that i didnt understand. She helped me everyday with what i didnt understand. When report cards came i saw that i had a A in that class. I went to my math teacher and thanked her for helping me get that A. Loftis is a great school to send your children too. It is a great school and i know because i went there my 6th 7th and 8th grade year. I graduated from 8th grade and Loftis has taught me so much that I could never forget and I never will. I love Loftis and my kids are going there when i can have kids.

My son is going to this school for the first time. The only thing I can say so far is the principle is not that friendly which is very important. It is so soon into the year so we will see. Also the dress code is bothersome to me because it seems to be an individual school thing. Some of the dress code issues are just ridiculouse to me. Such as not being able to wear any hoodie other than plain or Loftis (which is for money of course). Also no velour allowed what is this about? Adults there just hate velour? I hope the education there is going to be what I expect because my son has been on star role for the last 3 years. I also think maybe running the school with a little more kid friendly environment rather than a military type of environment would be better.

This is not a parent friendly school or for that matter a kid friendly school. The school is run by the teachers and principal with very little to no parental involvement. As a parent when asking a question or entering the school it is apparent that you are not welcome. If this is considered on of the top quality schools in Hamilton County then I suggest you don't move to Hamilton County.

I too was ecited about Loftis when my oldest one started then too was let down by the teachers & administration. I sent her the rest of the way through & then sent another one through for a year & 1/2 with the same bad tasste left in my mouth. My 3rd one is there now & so far so good & Lord only knows that if I get let down again I won't be able enough to tell people what to expect. I will say this though my oldest 1 has had it EASY at the high school because of the expectations of Lofits the next still has to work at it. Over all this yr we are happy. Go Cougars! Keep up the great work hopefully Mr Walter will keep the place in line.
