Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+)

In 2013-2014 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. GreatSchools Ratings for schools in IN are currently based on 2012-13 results for ISTEP+ and ECA, pending the release of ECA data for 2013-14. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

Though in the oldest building in the corporation teachers custodians and building staff encourage a spirit of creativity enthusiasm community and high expectations for all who come to MES. Teachers are dedicated to being lifelong learners and instill the essence of positive life skills to their students. Despite several administrative changes in recent years the warm welcoming atmosphere of MES and the implementation of best practice and differentiated instruction endures.
