As a student in 7th Grade I have experienced 6th Grade and 7th. The school has gone through very excellent renovations. As a student who moved here in 6th grade I felt like I fit in after about 9 weeks. I agree with other students and parents in which that the teachers are near retirement and have lost their spark for education. Through my years the array of teachers are astounding. I have not experienced any bullying and haven't seen much. Some are the teachers are still very young for teachers. Overall I like this school.

Middlo Middle is a bad school honestly I never passed a day without being call and illegal Mexican first of all if i was illegal I would not be all the way in VA second of all I'm not Mexican I'm Venezuelan third of all I've been call an illegal Mexican so many times that I don't even care anymore really but if i could i would get out of this school. So if your Hispanic don't go to this school.

My daughter just completed middle school here and I would not recommend this school. Teachers and quality are inconsistent. Principal oversight is weak and is more interested in protecting test scores and stats than students. There is bullying and drugs and alcohol abuse at this school. Don't let people smooth over the dysfunction taking place at this school with their soft polite Virginia niceness. Do your homework ask tough questions and talk to people. A lot of covering up takes place in VA as people don't want anyone thinking badly about good ol' Polite Virginians. Fact is if you are from a more progressive area of the country you'll find that your school is probably on par or better than anything Midlo has to offer. It's an average school at best. If you can afford it enroll your children in Trinity or Collegiate or St. Benedictines. Go private.

I have a child at Midlo Middle and after 2 years we are leaving for private school. Midlo Middle is very inconsistent ...in terms of the teachers the students and the quality of the experience. For Center Based Gifted students the experience is very different (and better) than for students in the general population. Many of the teachers are terrific and dedicated but there are a number who are near retirement and who seem to have lost their interest in helping children learn. They are 'punching the clock' at best and we have experienced one who is actually a bully to a couple of the kids in her class. The students too can be coarse and bullying is rampant. I'm not sure how different this is from other Middle School and how much more the school can do to stop it as I know that many detentions and much punishment has been meted out at different junctures. Netting it out Midlo Middle is a good school if you don't have other options but if you can swing private school I would recommend it.

When I was in sixth grade I thought Midlo was the best school in the world. I was blinded by friendship and 'fun' at the time. Now that I've reached eighth grade I feel like a different person. I'm not the best student in school and have received many detentions. My point here is that many kids in my classes yell out much more vulgar and inappropriate phrases than what I say and receive nothing but a glare from the teachers while I receive office refferals and detentions. The punishments are very inconsistent. The teachers view us students as test scores not people. All I am in this school is a number. I am not heard. I am not treated well by the administration. I will be glad to leave in a few months.

Some of the extra curricular activities are fun i guess but some of these teachers are completely inappropriate some are bipolar some are complete morons and some bully the students. There is a huge cockroach infestation and i have found many in my locker and in the locker room. The only good thing is the exploratory classes. All of the students are clones of each other bratty stuck up rich kids. This neighborhood is a high end snooty place so don't expect to be treated nicely about your appearance ever since I moved here i have been bullied and made fun of about my appearance. for the sake of your children do not move here. Once I got the answer wrong and I was pressured and yelled at until i got it right it made me cry and I was humiliated overall this school is terrible.

I attended Midlothian Middle School. Most of the teachers are very nice and helpful but I found that the some of students at the school were quite click-ish. Overall most of the kids are nice and understanding

I had two children attend this school before entering Midlothian High School and finally college. Midlothian Middle did a wonderful job preparing my children for high school/college but also for life. They offer many after school activities and clubs so there is something for all students. They are very caring and really want your child to succeed. One of my children struggled with ADHD/ADD and the teachers special ed. and guidance were extremely helpful and nurturing to my son. A "BIG" thank you to all the teachers at Midlothian Midlle School.

My son attended Midlothian Middle and I have to agree somewhat with the most recent comments from the Midlo student. I do feel that the school is clickish and there is alot of peer pressure. My son went from being an "A" student to being a "C" student. We were new to the community and I believe he felt like he needed to be apart of the click. Most of the teachers were focused on test scores and took no real interest in getting to know or motivating their students. Consequences for inappropriate behavior among students were not consistent across the board. I found Midlo Middle disappointing for a "9" rated school.

After three long years going to this atrocious piece of trash this is absolutely the worst possible school you can ever go to. The office staff and teachers are incredibly horrendous at their occupations. I feel that I have to constantly keep myself busy because the teachers cannot provide proper motivation. This lack of interest demoralizes students in itself and it is just absolutely ridiculous how these teachers (and staff) cannot properly relay information to each other and to the students. I feel cheated in a sense because I feel that I could have learned more in one year than I have in about 2 and 1/2 years at this school. Now about the student body... It is utterly horrible how the staff and teachers cannot immediately spot rude/inappropriate behavior from these students. Most of the student body is made up of stuck up brats class-clowns and just plain idiots. i'd like to add that teachers take no blame on themselves and instead they act immature enough to blame other teachers students etc. Also what I see in other schools is the competitive nature and motivated feeling. I sense none of these in this establishment. All in all just steer clear from here.

Lots of focus on test scores. The school can be click-ish and exclusive. Your child's experience here will depend on their academic talent.

I'm an eighth grader at this school and overall this school is pretty awesome. The only thing is now that they have bells for each period which is good in a way so the teachers would catch the students who are tardy rather than sneaking in without the teacher knowing but I think not enough time is provided between periods. My classes are spread apart and I don't have four minutes to go from one end of the buillding to the other or go all the way from science back down to my locker which is downstairs and go all the way upstairs back up to spanish upstairs again. I think they need to extend time rather than issuing detentions on an innocent student. Otherwise the teachers are nice and awesome and this school is awesome.

The some of my children have been exposed to inacceptable behaviour at this establishment and I haven't been contacted about it yet.

I am a parent and the administration at this school is shockingly bad. The principal and vice principal are inconsistent with discipline rude to parents and basically treat us with a complete lack of consideration. Phone calls are not returned. Issues are not addressed promptly. I will move rather than send another child of mine there.

I only attended this school for a year back in the 05-05 school year. However it was an amazing place to begin middle school. The teachers are friendly helpful and creative. Students are kind and treat eachother with respect. I moved to Midlothian from Pensacola Florida for a year and thoroughly enjoyed my time at this school. I was never treated as an outcast even though I was the 'new girl'. Orchestra was amazing. Mr. Yohe is a great teacher.

I am a 6th grader at this school and I think this school is superb. I have heard many people say it looks shabby old and worn but that just adds to its historic value. The teachers here are very nice and friendly too. They do anything and everything to teach you the things you need to learn. All in all this school is 5 star worthy. And the food is really good too! -)

I'm a student at this school going into 7th Grade as of Fall 2007. Last year was so much fun! I had excellent teachers who made learning fun with experiments projects and activites. This school rocks!

This school looks shabby--especially on the outside; but don't let appearances fool you. This is an excellent school for both academics and discipline. Why old-looking it is kept clean inside. Teachers are very good and are willing to help students after school a reasonable amount of time if the child is putting forth their maximum effort (i.e. doing homework paying attention). Test scores are high and students seem to enjoy their time here. Given the high caliber of students here it would be nice to see the administration involve these students more in inter-school competitive academic activities (Nat'l Spelling Bee Geography Bee Battle of the Brains Math Competitions etc). This would give the non-jocks more opportunity for self esteem and stature.
