I rate this school five stars because of my experience dealing with other schools in different zones. Having read other parents reviews I felt obligated to voice my opinion. currently I have two kids attending midway middle they attended for over two years. We are happy with the school. Yes the room for improvement is there however everyone need to help to fill the room. Every problem I had was handled properly and I give all the thanks and praise to the principal teachers and staff for their involvement. I strongly recommend this school to shape and educate kids for the world that faces ahead. Thanks to all the staff of mms.

Summary 1. Poor communications all the way around. Parent portal always wrong or broken and auto calls and web site not fully informative of school events a lot of staff avoid doing their jobs. Parents would be more involved if better informed! 2. Insane bullying and harassment. From teachers and other students. School will not help. 0 tolerance not used. Had to call law to get action. Also teachers calling out students in front of peers humiliating them on personal matters! 3. Teachers refuse to communicate to students about how they are doing. Students refused results of grades in very sarcastic ways and told to have parents check the portal that is always broken. Kids have no idea how they are doing or where they stand! 4. School won't work with families for solutions. I was disrespected and talked to like I was an idiot! If they treat adults that way then how to they treat kids when parents aren't there! Husband waited 3 hrs to talk to principal after that! 5. Poorly organized! The kids don't even know what's going on most of the time. I now home school. Avoid this school it's not a good place for any kid to be learning. Good luck if you can't avoid them. Thanks!

It's a great school with alot of wonderful teachers and amazing programs. I think more parent involvement would help out a great deal.

this school is the worst school ever.students teachers and admin are very rude also i do not recomend sending your children here. if you are looking for a safe clean and learning friendly school this is not the one.

This is by far the worst school i have ever encountered . My son went here after we moved from Tennessee for two months that was more than enough . In those two months he was denied lunch twice because he owed 1.00 on his account he was bullied for weeks by 5 boys that tried to fight him almost everyday and was called very inappropriate names in front of teachers/staff and nothing was done. I withdrew him and now home school him. My advice is if your children are white do not let them go here period. In my opinion this school practices reverse racism .

I have two children one has completed all three grades at MMS & one is still attending this school. My children have experienced the typical middle school problems but every one of my concerns has been addressed by the administration. The front office needs to be better organized & I feel the support staff could use a lesson in "customer service". Overall this is a good school and most of the teachers are in it for the right reasons!

My children go to this school and I have another that will follow soon and I WILL NOT let him/her go if I have anything to do with it. There are fights all the time and the sports are ONLY for those that "DO IT THEIR WAY " not the right. School is a place that is suppose to care what happens to our children not set them up for failure. This school is also too far away for our children to be bused to.(13miles).

The band director is a really great asset to Midway Middle. I am impressed at how well he has the band members trained and how well they play. My grandson has come a long way in his band. Although I am like another parent I am not happy that my grandson has to be bused 13 miles away when we have a school right at the back gate. I do like the dress code. I am happy with the principal. She is compassionate and has always tried to help our family and those of deployed soldiers. Hats off to her.

My son just started the sixth grade. And he loves to wake up excited about going to school and any school that makes him feel like that has my approval

This school is the worst school i have ever encounterd. First of all they bus our kids to it at 13 miles each way. They are way too strict on the dress code. My son had his cell phone and it rang just as school was about to let out and they took his phone and suspended him. He has never been in trouble before and is a straight a student. This was not good. I only made him take the phone because the school was so far away. Only for emergencies. While he was suspended one day he was not ever able to make up the work. This is just setting up our kids for failure! i believe he should be punished but not by taking his school work away. Then the school wants everyone to do so good. This school only has grades a b c f. Not good.

This is not such a great school. They waited until Feb. 2008 to offer our children a service that they should have made available to us the entire school year. Tutoring. They waited till they could see that some of the kids were slipping for the CRCT test then offered the parents of those children help with tutoring service. My son has been struggling all year long and only now that it effects their numbers are they willing to help. There are fights all the time at that school and I'm not sure anything gets done about it unless the vicitm is African American. This school has been a major disapointment to me for almost 2 years now. I loved Midway Elementary School the teachers there really did care about my son and worked hard to make sure he was where he needed to be acadimically all year long.

This is a great school. They have a really great sports program. They also have great great teachers. For example Mrs. Layton. She really reaches out to her students. If there are problems at home or at school. The school has a very good environment. It really would really make want to learn. I would know all of these things because I am a student here. It is a great place!
