Moved from another state and was in this schools district sadly. Teachers were more about socializing rather than helping with problems. My son was teased and it was allowed. Spoke with his teacher and was told I was attacking her. Spoke with the principle and was told she knew the teacher personally and could not believe that. No help there. My youngest was made to clean the restroom several times after another child who urinated on floor. The staff knew it was not my child but still made her clean. I requested a transfer and told the principle if I did not get one i would call the news. My children were moved and I was so thankful for that. Staff is to personally close to be dealing with children from outside of their circle.

As a parent I am very pleased with the care and concern the staff show to the students---they seem to really care! I have 2 children in the school. The staff are very well qualified. My daughter hates Math but loves Mrs. Speece who goes out of her way to make sure she understands it. My daughter has had to miss a lot of school and all of her teachers have made sure she could make up the work by either staying after school or going early to complete it. The principal takes time to be involved with the students and staff and helps to create a very warm environment. The teachers keep the children in control which makes it nice. I think it is wonderful that the whole staff gets involved with activities. I can't say enough positive about the school.

My three kids attend Mims Elem and I have some really great experiences there. A good staff with lots of hardworking teachers; but there seems to be a problem with the principal. Perhaps she's just been there too long or maybe her style just doesn't match the staff. She's disconnected with what's going on with the students and she puts WAY more effort into micromanaging her staff than she does making a good learning environment for the students. I especially appreciate how the Music teacher has brought out the talents of my kids! She's amazing!

I'm worried about the lack of discipline in this school. Some of the teachers could be friendlier and warmer to the kids but there are teachers there that are really exceptional and wonderful. My daughter has language and learning issues and not nearly enough is done for her which is disappointing. Their answer is to simply keep holding her back (her 3rd time this year) rather than really buckle down and work with her. No school is perfect but this school could try harder with kids with special needs.

We think that the quality of the academic program at mims is wonderful. We love the fact that my daughter is interested in art music and pe. All of the teachers she has had have been very helpful in how we can help her at home with her 'trouble' spots. The parent involvement could be improved but the parents that are involved are great and the children are proof of that. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at mims from the office clerk to the child care workers. You are all wonderful. Keep up the good work. Jeremy baumgardner & shamprell williams

My son has been at Mims Elem for two years now and he loves the P.E. coaches and the activities that they do there. He's never liked P.E. we came to Mims. I wish they had more time for art and music but they do have art every other week and music every week. My son wishes that they had drama there too. I think the level of parent involvement is at least average for normal public schools but I wish we could do more. The staff at Mims is just so wonderful and we are so happy here at Mims! Thanks~
