California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SCHOOL! This is our 3rd year at Castille and the principal teachers and office staff are amazing. The parent involvement is so great that it makes you feel like you are part of a second family. My only complaint is that I wish this school went through 6th grade so my children could attend there longer.

Castille has an amazing principal in Laura Lyon and fantastic teachers. Parent involvement increases year after year.

Castille is an amazing school. My son has attended for 2 years. He loves school and has excelled. He adores the principal and loves his teacher. He can't wait for summer to end and for the new school year to start.

Castille is AWESOME...everyone is loving and friendly. I can't say enough great things about the teachers principal office staff and parents...Everyone is all about making this place the best it can be! My son is receiving a top notch education. I am amazed what they are teaching these kids...A++

We love this school. My son first went to Melina Heights and I was afraid that Castille wasn't good enough for him but as soon as we met the teachers and the principal we knew he was going to be fine. His first grade teacher was amazing the best teacher so far since preschool and now his second grade teacher is as good as the first grade one. Have to more kids and I am sure they will be as happy as my older boy!

Castille is an exceptional school. The student body is made up of genuinely kind caring and determined individuals who enjoy coming to school. The families of these students are dedicated to helping in any way they can to ensure their children are getting a quality education. The teachers staff and principal are incredibly professional dedicated and truly caring people. The whole child is important to all of the adults that walk through Castille's doors every day! A culture of excellence integrity and responsibility permeates throughout the entire school. There isn't a day that goes by that one won't witness teachers going above and beyond the call of duty. There is no reason to pay for a private education! Castille is a fantastic school!

My child is in her last of 6 years at this superb school. She has had exceptional teachers who got better each year. Each looked for ways to encourage enhance and bring each child to their potential striving to bring out a life-long joy and benefit of learning and character. There have been 3 principals in 6 years and like the teachers just got better. The current one Mrs. Lyon is loved and respected by students parents and teachers. She always has the success & safety of the students in mind has an open door a smart mind and a loving heart. The front office staff is nothing short of exceptional - always on top of what needs to be done for the kids or the school - and with a simle and helpful hand. Mr. G the custodian has made the school look it's best and is always there when you need him. A vibrant successful PTA and plus parent involvement has kept so many programs here for our children when the district has failed miserably. I and my daughter couldn't have been happier and more satisfied that this has been her elementary school. There is the interest attention drive and care of a private school at public school prices. Thanks Castille staff!

This is an incredible school!!! We have four children attending Castille. We have been at this school for 3 years now and greatly enjoy the school for so many reasons. The teachers are incredible and take individual time and attention to support the children academically as well as in other developmental growth needed. We respect the leadership of the school greatly Mrs. Lyon is the most exceptional principal I have had the pleasure of knowing. Our children are blessed to be in such a great school. It is about the people at Castille - the teachers and Administration makes an amazing school and culture with such limited funding our public schools receives. It is a wonderful place for our children; we enjoy watching them grow in their education and character as well! The Castille community is dedicated to the children and ensuring they receive an excellent educational experience!

We transferred to Castille in my daughters 3rd grade year from a private school....we could not be happier with our choice! Love love love this school and it's teachers!!!

My third child to attend Castille is in her final year there and experience with the school now extends to a decade. The staff is generally excellent; experienced forward looking and kind. The physical plant is adequate and parental involvement has been ongoing over the years. There has been a fair amount of turnover of principals over the years but the majority have been strong and interested in improving the school. The current appears to be the hardest working as I see her there 2 hours after everyone else is gone on a regular basis. A special thanks to Mr. G the rock that has held things together there and a positive influence that has outlasted all teachers and administrators (the custodian) ! Thanks Mr. G. !! Thanks Castille Staff. If there are any issues it's more at the District level than at Castille.

This is a public school with the teaching staff credentials and volunteer parent support expected more from a private school.

This is my first year as a parent at Castille. I have one kindergartener and one preschooler. They absolutely love it!! The Principal and all the teachers are very nice and they all make themselves available to answer any questions we as parents may have.

We are relatively new to the area and every parent I have talked to has raved about Castille their teachers and the staff. Despite California's poor funding for education the teachers remain dedicated and excited about teaching. I feel confident sending my only child to Castille Elementary School.

In these economic times Castille is proving that together you can do amazing things. The Principal and teachers are dedicated to their students and enthusiastic about teaching. The PTA is strong and provides many wonderful extra programs for the students. API has increased 38 points and is now over 900 reflecting the dedication and hard work of the students teachers principal and parents. I am proud that my child is a Coyote and know he is being well prepared for a successful journey in life.

Both our daughter and son went to Castille. Our son just graduated and the new principal is by far the best principal this school has had over the 10 years we have been there. She has always listened to our concerns and taken appropriate action. Her caring for the children parents and staff is unbelievable. The staff in the office is outstanding as are most of the teachers. Parental involvement is very high. Recent California Distinguished School award is well deserved and a long time coming. This is a well rounded school that we highly recommend.

The school has plenty to offer. Some teachers are great. Unfortunately there are always some bad eggs although you won't here it from any teacher or staff member. The principal is a great listener and just that. She stands with teachers and staff right or wrong.(Fair or unfair). I'm here to comment on what I have encountered in the 5 months my children have attended school here. My wife and I are severely disappointed with our experience so far. Be warned Do your research far beyond these ratings and scores you will read online. This school needs an outside audit on its practices and policies(none of which are written!)The only positive thing about this school is our son's 4th grade teacher Mrs. Fiorenza.

Our son has been attending Castille for three years. The teachers are very supportive and encouraging. The new principal (she started in 2005) has a good head on her shoulders and was instrumental in getting the school recognized as a California Distinguished School. The school has been around for awhile (since the '70s) and went through a remodel a couple of years back. Great parent involvement on all levels. The PTA sponsors music and art programs for all grade levels. There is an onsite child care program run by the YMCA that is convenient for working parents. Overall a great school.

Great accademic program. Unfortunately like most schools in this state money is lacking for computer upgrades better facilities P.E. instruction etc. High level of parental involvement

I love Castille! They have great programs and a great principal. We have enjoyed every teacher our kids have had. They all are dedicated and creative. We especially like the 5th grade program and the music programs offered.

This is a school that we have been looking into and have asked many friends and neighbours about. The school is very neat and organized. We talked to two teachers and we were happy with the way they communicated to us the shcool curriculum
