Great for elementary not so great for middle school. It has turned into a second chance school for kids who have behavior issues
To the person below with the child that has Aspergers I hope that by now you have moved him to a public school where they receive funding to deal with children with special needs. A small private school that runs on a shoestring budget in order to hold tuition costs down is not going to be equipped to handle all Cherenkov with such special needs.
This school has went down hill in the past 5 years. It has become a place to send disruptive children. All policies and rules are not followed. Needs major updates in all aspects of a private school.
Both of my children (11yrs and 8yrs now) have been through Joyland Daycare and Knollwood Christian school since they were 6 wks old. We have been very pleased. If any concerns have come up the door to the director's and principal's office has always been open and the issues addressed. I know that each person there cares for the children. It is a very family oriented place with a positive environment. The middle school teachers do a great job of keeping the children focused on what's important. Gives me great comfort that I don't have to worry about my children being exposed to things such as bullying drugs alcohol stealing etc. that now seem to be showing up so early in schools. Would greatly recommend this facility to everyone I know!
My oldest son went to Knollwood Christian in 2007 for kindergarten. He went to Joyland Daycare which I loved and still love to this day. I thought the school would be great too Boy was I wrong. I informed his teacher that we were having him tested because we knew he was hyper. I kept the teacher in the loop the entire time through out his testing and told her he was being diagnosed with aspergers but it is a lengthy process. Her only concern was when was he going to get medicated. I informed her that until testing was complete and due to the fact he had just turned 5 medication was not an option. Her response was I have plenty of children in my class on medication. From Sept - Jan she bullied and humiliated my child in front of his classmates and when she got tiered of him would send him to another teachers room or to sit in the office. She one day had him crying and hugging his aunt while she threaten to start calling me to come spank him because he was a horrible kid. He was so afraid of school I had to pick him up and drag him in. I asked the principal to move him and she said no and they didnt have to help him because they are a private school. Real christian attitude.
My daughter has attended Knollwood Christian since K4. She also attended Joyland Daycare from 9mths on. Both are wonderful. My daughter has learned so much since she has been at this school. The staff is wonderful and they really do know each student by name. I would definitely recommend Knollwood Christian to any parent looking for a Christian loving enviornment for their child.
Our 3rd grader has attended KCS since K4. It is a fantastic school with an outstanding head master and teaching staff!!!
My daughter has been going to Knollwood for a year and so far we've been totally happy. It has a Christ-centered environment and the faculty really knows each child and seems to genuinely care about them. I'm also very happy that the school is a little more diverse than any of the other private Christian schools in the area.
knollwood christian shool is an awsome school. They have such a loving and comforing atmoshpere! my kids have gone to knollwood for 7 years and never had a problem. )
My (3) grandaughters go there and I love it the school has such a loving atmosphere as well as a sound academic program. I would rate it s (5) star school.
Academically a good school but very poor athletically. If your children excel in sports this is not the school for you. They have no qualified coaches on their staff.
Knollwood Daycare Elementary and Middle School are excellent! The teachers and administrators really care not only about the student's academic growth but also their social emotional moral and especially spiritual growth. They are especially attentive during that difficult period of adolescence by holding up a moral compass to help guide the students. I highly recommend KCS to anyone and everyone
As a former parent of a middle school student at Knollwood I can say that this school was the best educational experience of my son's school career. He was challenged academically and became a more confident student. Two of his favorite teachers are still teaching at Knollwood. Knollwood is small enough to retain a family feeling but large enough to offer enhancements to the curriculum(Spanish music art Accelerated Reader). I can highly recommend Knollwood to anyone who wants an academically advanced education in a loving and caring environment.
I am extremely pleased with Knollwood Christian. The teachers are highly qualified as well as very loving. The academics are well above anything the public schools have to offer and the overall environment is highly conducive to the children's overall success; academically socially physically and spiritually. I have three children who are very different but each one is reaching their full potential thanks to the school's and teacher's ability to help each child be their best. The elementary school curriculum includes music Spanish art chapel library and organized P.E. The middle school offers a well rounded sports program as well as an excellent curriculum. The PTF (parent/teacher fellowship) works hard to help the school and parent involvement is encouraged and fostered. You can't find a better elementary / middle school in Mobile!
I think Knollwood is the best school. I've never seen a school with so many positives. Mrs. Guy is the most amazing principal she knows the names of all the students and is so caring and understanding. The teachers are absolutely the best especially Ms. Lacey and Mr. Bray. They really challenged my daughter to excel in her work. My daughter just begin KCS in the 7th grade and it's been the best thing we could have ever done for her. The Christian environment the education is just so far ahead of public schools that we could not believe it. It is such a family environment and most of the kids have been there forever. They all treated us like we had been there forever too. I have a son who will start K5 this year and I'm looking so forward to him getting his education KCS.
Knollwood Christian School is an excellent environment for any child. The teachers are dedicated and truly care about the students. Mrs. Guy is a caring christian who is an excellent principal. The school has a family feel and is small enough (around 400 students) that the principal truly knows every student's name. The PTF is an awesome parent group that does so much to enhance the school environment. The ABEKA curriculum excels in reading and math usually at least one year ahead of public schools. The athletic program is growing and includes baseball softball soccer basketball volleyball and cheerleading. KCS also has art music and spanish classes for all elementary students. Overall this is an excellent school with a christian spirit that illuminates the halls! I would highly recommend Knollwood to anyone. My family has been part of the KCS family for 5 years and counting and we love it!
This school feels like a family. You get the sense that all of the teachers and staff truly care about your child.
If you take the time to get to know the teachers they will take you in as one of their own. Very friendly. Some teachers are better then others that is just a fact at any school. I think overall Knollwood does a fair job. My children have a christian education and are sheltered from secular ways. Granted kids will be kids and if you remember your middle school day you surely can relate to what things might take place there.
