Teachers here are too aggressive they won't let the children use the restrooms when they raise their hands and ask politely. If your kid is known for being a little energetic all the teachers automatically believe that he is a bad kid and won't let him explain what happened and just punish him. Their curriculum is ridiculous. My brother who is in first grade learned everything he is currently learning from his pre-school at a different school. After school they only have 2 teachers watching all the kids who are out and they leave after 30 minutes without a care if they were picked up or not. My brother who is 6 years old had a friend tell him to go to the office to call home to let us know that he got out early. The teachers who were on duty did not even say anything or care if they were left alone. Ridiculous school. Teachers are biased unfriendly and cold. I do not recommend your child come here. If possible try to get a permit to go to another school. WASTE OF YOUR CHILD'S TIME.
This school is an outstanding school. Yes the results from the STAR tests are not very high but it is a very good school. The teachers are helpful there are a lot of activities such as the spring carnival and the principal has done a lot of things to enhance the school. My favorite year was my third grade year and so far my third grade teacher was by far the best. Of course all of my other teachers did a good job in educating me too. That's why I am a straight A student at Richard Garvey Intermediate School
My 2 children attend Hillcrest. I am an involved parent I request certian teachers for the following year I ask alot of questions. Mr. Libby is a very involved principal and is ready and willing to hear any problems/concerns parents have. School staff is very helpful and know children by first name. As with any school there are some teachers that should not be teaching (close to retirement and not motivated) but the majority of teachers are involved and care about their students' progress. Fourth grade GATE class with Ms. Tong was both challenging and a great opportunity. Ms. Lim Ms. Wong Ms. Tran Ms. Cisneros are also excellent teachers. The only complaint I have is the lack of parental involvement. PTA does alot for the school but could use help. Would love to see more after-school activities (art/chess classes).
This is an okay school..... because I went there for one year and I got picked on a lot so my parents sent me to Monterey Vista.
Hillcrest is a great school my son graduated from their last year and now his little brother is their now. The teachers are great with the kids and they work good with the parents and the school is very clean.
It is an ok school as far as I am concern. Campus is messy trash everywhere.
Hillcrest is great school for my kid I met and know most of the teachers they had wonderful teachers and do care a lot for the students and we do had a great principal Mr. Libby. woodcraft program it great for my kid and help me a lot of her daily homework and the activities program.
My daughter and I love this school. All the teachers she's had are the best!! They truely love the kids and want the best for them. It's a smaller school located in a safe quiet family neighborhood. Our principal Mr. Libby is great. He knows the kids by first name and works hard and is very active in all the school activities. I love the after school program. They assist with getting her daily homework done and they do 'fun' things too. I'm very pleased with Hillcrest in all aspects!!
Hillcrest is a wonderful school. My whole family went there. and now our children are going there. and Mr. Libby well hes just a great Principal. Keep up the great work!!!
Is a nice school there is a lot nice teachers and my child love the school now she is in middle school but she still want to stay in this school.!
This school became a California distinguished School in 2006. Its students have won a Gold Medal for the Los Angeles County Science Competition in 2005. I believe that the teachers are very responsive to the needs of students. I like to school very much as a parent.
Why the school is close to my heart for personel reasons. I am quite surprised of the lack of afterschool programs available and the lack of art programs.
