California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

I am a student that goes to New Technology High. I love this school because it really prepares you for the real world. It also is a great way to learn more responsibility. Many people say this is a bad school because its difficult but if you work hard and really strive for good grades then you will do great! I also love how the teachers will work with you one on one and really make sure that you're learning. This school is outstanding.

I'm a very social person. This school has good teachers but it's NOT a school for someone that wants to go through the traditional and NORMAL high school life. Going to this school has to be my biggest regret in my life. I was a straight A student but here at New Tech it was harder to get good grades. For the whole year I was at New Tech deep inside me was depression. I was sad not to be able to go to a real high school and experience how it's SUPPOSE to be. I never got to play sports meet new students that aren't socially deprived and so on. The majority of people that go to New Tech are those that were bullied and came to the school to get away from it. Being a small school brings everyone closer. That just horrifies me. To think that people would RUN AWAY from their problems instead of facing it. What a shame. But DO NOT go to New Tech if you are the type that loves to socialize and have a normal life. It was embarrassing to say I went to New Tech people would think that someone like me would go to a real normal high school.

A great school for those who want to do the work through sometimes it can be difficult. the people here are wonderful thanks to the New Tech culture and the teachers while some can be insensitive are generally very kind and helpful. if you want to see what other students have to say you can look at their blog at http //newtechhigh-tours.tumblr.com/

As an alumni looking back I feel the preparation the school gives you is more life lessons than preparing you for college or any post-secondary education. It was originally built to produce students to be more business oriented upon graduating and entering the work force. The strengths the school will emphasize on the students are their public speaking skills self organization team/group work and presentation performance. Skills not really developed in most high schools and colleges which many business really look into strong oral and writing communication. The weaknesses at tech I feel are the things they lack that most other schools have. Which makes sense because it is a small school. Those are made up with the local college which is a great head start for their college careers.

I am a student at New Tech and I personally believe this school is not for people who are not straight A kids. I mean I've been here two years but I think this might be my last. Sometimes if you don't understand something then having to go up and talk to the teachers makes you feel stupid. If you have to ask more than once then thats about all you can really take. Grading is done differently and it makes things a lot harder not to mention theres not a lot of lecture times. There are some good classes like Digital Media where the teacher actually walks around and assists you if he notices you are having a difficult time with something. Overall I think New Tech is an alright school as long as you are willing to work.

This school has a good idea but unless you know you could be a straight a student at a traditional highschool i wouldnt recommend going here. The school although abundant is very limited. Administration is a joke most of the teachers are great but the leaders of this school need to go back to school themselves.

I currently go to New Tech. It's a very good school compared to Vintage and Napa high. Unlike the other schools the teachers help one on one. Also you have a lot of freedom but you must follow the motto 'Trust Respect Responsibility.' A lot of people take Tech for granted and usually leave after one semester. This school is challenging but if you try hard and really focus then you'll do fine. This school is one of the best in the Valley. Though the only things i don't like is the bullying and sometimes students can be immature. Overall i would give this school an 8/10. Go Tech!!!! Class of 2010

I go to New Tech and I love it! I am so glad I didn't go to any other high school. I have been going there for three years now. I have always sorta liked school but now I love it. New Tech is the best high school to go to. It deffinatly prepares you for collage and the workplace. The best part though are the teachers and students they are all so great and fun. This school makes learning fun mainly because we don't use any books; everything is project based. I deffinatly recomend you to go to New Tech High.

This was a great school to go to. If your child is looking for a challenge from the typical High School then think about New Technology High School. Yes the child and the parent have to put considerably more effort into their education than in a typical high school but if you want your child to excel it won't be a problem for you at all. Your child will learn all kinds of new skills that will help them in college and in the work place. Being able to speak in front of others and talk about a subject from a prepared speech or one that has to be realized at last second are great skills to learn and grow in. Yes a child gives up certain things like sports to go here but if they weren't that big into them before then what are they truly losing but being teased?

This school although great with some exceptional teachers is far too biased. Atmosphere is great idea is great. Administration horrible. They turned this happiest loyalest student into a a greatly disappointed student. There area a few greatteachers!

Excellent academic programs. Our child has become so interested in so many different subjects. He shares with his family what he has learned each day with excitement. Best choice he ever made was to attend Tech High. The teachers are very involved with each student and communication between parents teachers and students is clear direct and supportive. Our child wasn't very organized or self directed in his studies but this has all changed since he began attending NTHS. Regarding sports-Ultimate Frisbee appears to be the sport of NTHS and our son loves it. Strongly recommend New Tech High School.

My son was not very organized and we found that in order for students to be successful at this school your child should be self motivated and organized.

Academic programs are challenging. Limited extra curricular. High level of parent involvement
