I attended New Castle when i was a youth and never had any issues. It's like any other school; trouble will go where trouble follows. When I went there my only complaint would have been the lack of involvement with the teachers/principal and lack of programs. Now as a mother that has 2 children that attend there I am blown away by the changes. I am more than impressed with George Washington and the Sr High. They have implemented so many more programs that help my child to achieve. The teachers are wonderful and are involved and engaged. My children have no complaints. We would like to move to a more rural area but I don't b/c I feel my children are getting a great education at New Castle & my children are happy there.

I am a former student and although I feel I received a good education from New Castle enough to go on to college and become a teacher I feel that the school district needs to do away with their politicking and favoritism. I purposefully made the decision to apply for teaching jobs out of state because I knew I could not get a job in my hometown as I am not related to/married to or have connection with anyone currently or previously employed by the NC School System. If you don't have certain last names in New Castle you won't be hired and I know this based on multiple family members' experiences trying to get hired in New Castle. If you want a school where policitcs and favoritism are absent good luck because New Castle isn't it.

I graduted a few years ago and have recently graduated college. I found the district school system students and faculty members to be very supportive! You should be proud of where you came from and I definitely am. New Castle may have a bad reputation to some but it was a great experience for me. I was born and raised in the city and would not change one thing about my childhood. Let's go hurricanes!

NCHS has it's problems with faculty and student involvment but overall I found my experience there to be rewarding and benefitted my college and life experiences.

I am a parent former student (graduated 2003) who is moving specifically so that my son does not have to attend this district. The majority of teachers are disinterested and lazy. I personally feel like my high school experience was a waste of time and potential.
